Sainsbury’s Forest Hill gives local residents the opportunity to see the Paralympic Torch in their own London 2012 Paralympic Games Torch Relay

• Sainsbury’s Forest Hill customers and colleagues yesterday had the chance to see the Paralympic Torch on as it passed through in Sainsbury’s own local Paralympic Torch Relay
• Will Keane and Sarah Davies ran with the Torch from Forest Hill store to Dulwich store.
• 17 Sainsbury’s stores across South and East London will be taking part in a one day Torch Relay to celebrate the London 2012 Paralympic Games
• The Relay will ended at Sainsbury’s Stratford at 8pm last night

Following the success of the 24 hour London Paralympic Torch Relay last Wednesday, one of the Torches was involved in a local Relay across Sainsbury’s stores in South and East London yesterday. On Tuesday 4th September at 9:30, Will Keane and Sarah Davies ran from Sainsbury’s Forest Hill with the Torch to help promote the Paralympic Games, which began on Wednesday 29th August.
Customers and colleagues at Forest Hill had the chance to see the Torch when it arrived at the store at 9:30am. Will Keane and Sarah Davies ran with the Torch to Dulwich Sainsburys.
The one-day 12-hour Relay began at Streatham Common and ended at Sainsbury’s Stratford last night at 8pm. The store is opposite Westfield and the Olympic Park, the home of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Sainsbury’s is the first ever sole sponsor of the Paralympic Games, which take place from 29th August to 9th September, and the only retailer giving people across the UK the chance to see the Torch up close.
Sainsbury’s Regional Operations Manager Pete McDonough added: “Our colleagues had a great time running with the Torch across South and East London yesterday. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the Torch up-close and feel the buzz of the Paralympic Games, which we’re proud to be sponsoring”.
