Went to the pools today, and although I am aware that its half term I was completely unprepared for the seating/viewing area to be a makeshift creche.
There was no-where to sit, toys were strewn all over the walk-way buggies also all over the place causing it to be a bit of an obstacle course.
When I did finally get a seat ( I was waiting to meet someone there) the woman who got up to leave had left chunks of food on the table and worst of all a soiled nappy in a plastic bag on the window-sill-when I asked if it was hers and would she move it she said she would but added "The staff should really be cleaning this area"
PHLEEZE! that is an area where people eat and drink whilst watching their older kids in the pool-its totally out of order changing nappies there and expecting the overstretched staff to clear up the mess.
I am aware babies need changing but doesn't the pool have a dedicated changing area? Also though its great having the play area could it not be in a corner or the restaurant? I worry about the partially sighted or elderly slipping on something.

might it not have been simpler for you to wait for your friend in the cafe if all the sofas were occupied?

If toys were strewn all over the main walkway, that's one thing, but the play area, in my view, is in the best possible location as it is behind the sofas, so not in anyone's way (and it's up to parents to make sure their children don't cause an obstruction) - as for the suggestion that the play area be in the cafe - why? that seems to me to be the worst place for it as all that'll happen is kids get under the feet of people carrying hot drinks - hardly an ideal combination!

I'm with you on the nappy point though - that's grim and certainly not the staff's responsibility to clear up!

It would be useful to know why some people think it's OK to leave rubbish, including disgusting things like used nappies, lying around in public places. That conversation NottinghillBilly had with the nappy-leaver suggests some idea that where cleaning staff are employed, it is their responsibility to be there all the time, waiting to swoop on rubbish as soon as the public drop it on the floor, or place it on a window sill, or whatever.

I was in a train once and a woman cleared her bag of old receipts, empty crisp packets, apple cores etc and put it all neatly on the table in front of me before getting off herself. I wanted to rush after her crying 'Why do think that's OK?' Didn't have the courage, though.

I personally think its lazy AND arrogant to assume that someone else will clear up their muck because its in a public place that employs cleaners.
Back to the Pools I just marvel at what made the woman think it was ok to have a used nappy in a public place where people also eating, and would be eating after she'd gone.
Makes me want to go to a dinner party at her house, poo on her table and she if she finds that acceptable.

Bumping the pools thread for a survey/question.

We have a baby who is now about 10 months and we'd love to be able to take her for a swim at the pools. However, the learner pool seems to be getting progressively colder on each visit.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, Yes...I've noticed this.
In other pools I've visited the learner pools have always been significantly warmer than the main pool..However I've noticed that the Learner pool In FH baths has been getting colder and colder and now I don't even bother using it because its a miserable experience.
I actually find the large pool warmer.
To make it even more unpleasant the changing rooms are never warm and the showers provide just a trickle of water....Oh! and add to that the hairdryers that puff out cold air and Its all a bit grim really.Thumbdown

I was in the Glass Mill Pool on Monday and a lady with a baby said the big pool was warmer than the baby pool!!!!!!!! Is this a cost cutting exercise? Has anyone complained to the management about it? (I think Glass Mill is Fusion as well). If not they certainly need to be told

My impression recently has been that the main pool too is kept rather cooler than it used to be, but I may be wrong.

I've been to the main pool twice this week, and it does feel quite a bit cooler.

Yes, Agreed....
When It first opened the pool temperature was just right.
Now the main pool is downright chilly too.
And why oh why can't they install hair dryers that blow hot air rather than cool air,
May as well not have them.

The main pool is a tad chilly when you get in, but that's forgotten about when you start swimming.
Colder pools are more resistant to germs too.

Just come back from the pool - temperature in the main pool was absolutely fine and the hairdryers hot!

It's a great pool and I find I am going more and more.

The main pool at forest hill pools is currently closed due to technical problems, we have engineers on site and are hoping to rectify this problem as soon as possible. Please bear with us whilst we try to fix this and I will update as soon as I have more news

This applies to 'FHP2'

Can you make sure your mobile app and website reflect this - today they're both showing that the pool is fully operational- yesterday the mobile app said the main pool was closed in the morning. This shows some effort to keep the public informed but consistency would be nice
