Muddy foot prints should be the least of anyone's concerns. Leaving urine in places other than the toilet for example would come top of my list. Baby nappies discarded in changing rooms another. I've also seen sandwich crusts left in changing rooms and general rubbish that does not get put into the bins.

Well we'll have to agree to differ. I've seen muddy footprints on many occasions - the most recent time was lunchtime yesterday. I would prefer to be able to walk on a clean floor when my feet are clean and I'm on my way back to work, but clearly other people don't feel the same.

I agree with gingernuts' comments about other concerns. I've seen odd bits of rubbish on the floor and seats in the changing rooms, I'm thankful that I've not come across used nappies or pools of urine!

That is not the point of a timetable at all!

Muddy footprints don't bother me, but i regular find smell of urine in changing cubicle, crisps on floor, old bits of food.
And the ladies toilets poolside are usually smelly dirty and lacking in paper.
finally the hairdryers simply don't dry hair, they are neither hot enough or strong enough.
Lastly the whole last minute timetable change (if not caused by instructor sickness) is infuriating and has caught me out several times.

I'd like to see that plastic matting like they have at Beckenham Spa, so at least you're not splashing through muddy pools. Oh, and an employee with a mop and bucket pottering around. I expect they haven't the budget, though. Or the intelligence.

Newbie to the forum - hello fellow forest hillers!

Just wondering if anyone has been to any of the group workout classes at the Forest Hill Pools on a pay per class basis?

I see they only do a few classes per evening, and yoga only twice per week in the evening, and just wondering if people knew how busy they are, whether you can book in advance etc - basically how likely I am to get a spot in the class if I go to all the effort of dragging my gym kit and yoga bag into work and then just show up?

Trying to get back into the gym after a long hiatus and I know I'll find it really discouraging if turned away - also not ready to commit to membership til I've been a few times.

Any advice or reviews would be gratefully received.

I'be been to Aqua classes and Zumba on a PAYG basis and never been turned away from either even though they've been far from empty.

My ongoing beef is still with the noticeable lack or rather absence of any visible cleaning staff. at Beckenham there always seems to be someone cleaning and mopping.
Also the state of the ladies loos poolside is truly shocking. no paper, blocked loos wet seats etc. truly vile.
Finally I think we still need more evening classes and the pool seems to be used all the time by saxon crown swimming group at least in the evening up until 8pm when my partner and I want to go and have a swim.
Finally can we have an Aqua Zumba on a sunday as well please????

The problem with the pools is often not the staff but rather the clientele. We used to use it early mornings, including Saturdays and the pools were busy yet clean and orderly. Now we go on an evening and the place is often messy and dirty. People put feet on chairs, leave belongings in cubicles so that others cant use them to change and rubbish behind in the changing rooms when they leave.

Some people cant even seem to get their kids to put the toys away in the seating area when they've finished with them, but seem to find it acceptable that said toys are left strewn everywhere.

And before anyone bemoans the presence of kids, it isn't the kids leaving the rubbish behind and it didn't seem to happen on Saturday mornings, when there were almost as many kids around, so it must down to the adults with them in the evenings.

I think we'll be reverting to going in the mornings.

I also like the fact that it's OK to get changed into your swimming gear, leave your civvies in a changing cubicle, go for a swim, then come back and get changed again.

Am I allowed to throw said clothes in a pile when I would like to use a cubicle?

(or better to get a member of staff to do it)

I agree with a lot of the comments above. With the recent wet weather, on my last trip I appeared from getting changed to find a large group of kids and adults wandering about from the poolside toilets, the showers and around the changing rooms, wearing shoes that were dirty enough to leave prints. It's really foul... and there's no enforcement. I mentioned that the changing room is meant to be bare feet or shoe covers and got shrugged off. To be fair, the shoe covers had run out too. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE! (rant over)

It's a bit of mess at the moment, for 2 days in a row, there has been barely any loo roll in the ladies, and the soap is non existent. Plus one broken seat. Also a few light bulbs in the changing rooms need changing.. And while I was there today, a female lifeguard was checking the water in the toddlers pool, with that bottle on a stick thing.. clearly couldn't be a***d to pass it to the guards in the big pool, so scooted it along at high speed across the floor, where it missed an older swimmer by cm's... it could've hit him straight in the face!. A male life guard sort of apologised to the swimmer, blaming the fact they weren't allowed to shout, so he didnt know it was coming! Bloody daft

The ladies Loos are always as described in the above post.
I find the lifeguards often a bit disinterested.
There was one incredible guy but he seems to have gone now.
I wish the pools were better run

I was there last year and one of the lifeguards was asleep in his highchair! I complained and emailed, but got no reply.

I went along a few times when it first opened. I was thrilled it was on my doorstep.
However, I have decided I will stick to the pool I used to go to before.
I felt it was not very clean (not completely their fault) but I did not like the lane restrictions.

Sounds like you ladies are messy so-and-sos!

The gent's toilets are always clean and tidy...
