Yeah!! there should be a time ( especially in school holidays) where us grown ups can just swim. I know they have a womens only swim, but an 18 plus would be a better idea surely

I heartily agree with the last two posters - an adults only session at post-work time a couple of evenings a week would be great - and I would use them.

I just wish they had more staff. Both my kids have lessons, of the twenty in total 6 were cancelled due to no staff, one to a wee jobbie in the pool and the other through someone throwing up in the pool. Now the last two you can understand but the others...

It is great that almost a year after opening the pool is busy. Having 2 pools certainly doesn't seem like a luxury, but a necessity. It seems it could have easily filled another pool.

As someone who is mostly accompanied with my children when in pool I do agree that at times it seems too busy. When I come the learner pool is unavailable because there are lessons but have no problem in some more time being allocated to over 18.

So suggestion would be that after 7pm (once all the lessons are over and the learner pool is free) there should be no general swim in the main pool.

On the note of balls and other toys, I would encourage use of those, as long as people who don't want it around them have an opportunity to enjoy a quiet swim say after 7pm.

I would say adults only after 7pm. Shouldnt children be in bed or getting ready for bed anyway at this time?

I wish they would change the mirrors in there too... I swam like a dolphin today, and according to those blasted mirrors, I am no nearer to being Kate Moss...curses!Rofl

7pm over 18's sounds lovely, it would also give some parents a well deserved break from the kids. Some 'me' time

Oh, I would love it if it were adults only after 7pm! I haven't been for a while, because I've assumed that the sunshine will give everyone the same idea at the weekends - and in the evenings the pool seems to be given over to groups, triathletes, swimming clubs and the like, with the space left being occupied by kids.

(And yes, I'm not a parent, so I don't understand why kids are in the swimming pool in the evening either. I had homework when I was that age...)

So making it adults only after 7 would mean that what bit of the pool is left over for us mere mortals should hopefully still be swimmable.

(I've deluded myself that I'll go at 9pm, when things get proper swimmy. Suffice to say, after getting home, having tea, and putting my feet up... doesn't happen.)

Do you think anyone from the pools reads this? Any way we can make our feelings known to create changes?
Surely they could do it on a trail basis ( the adult only swim for over18's that is)
For a few months to test it's popularity.
We do after all have women only swims and over 60's.
why not something for us full time workers who want to swim after 6pm?

Hear, hear! It would be great if the pool could try a pilot.

Hello all,

We have been following your forum posts, so are aware of your desire to have more adult only swimming.

We review our programmes 3 times a year, so will bear these comments in mind for when we change the timetable. We currently offer adult lane swimming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights. We can however look to begin these sessions earlier as there is clearly the demand.

Regards
Fusion Lifestyle

Can anyone tell me the difference between 'General Swim' and 'Family Swim'? I've been in the pools for both and they seem to be 'no holds barred'.

Last time I was there a group consisting adults and teenagers were running arm-in-arm from the showers and doing group bombs into the shallow end while the lifeguards sat looking bored in their chairs. I don't think it is a case of removing kids from the pool but having a few, dare I say it, rules about pool use that are actually enforced. Not that I am actually against the idea of occasional adult-only session too.

I miss the 'No Bombing, No Heavy Petting, etc' sign I remember from my youth...

IWereAbsolutelyFuming, officially I think family swim means you have to be there with a kid. That's what it says on the timetable. But I asked at the desk once if I was allowed in (solo) and they said fine. So I'm really not sure...

... and I well remember those signs too! Bring them back (and therefore the awkward adult-to-child explanations of what the heck "petting" means Laugh)

That's the one Admin, thanks!

Mind you, that lass in the 'petting' picture is hot

Serious question - Seeing as women get their own hours in the pool when men aren't allowed, shouldn't us men pay slightly less for membership?

Hm. I wonder to whom the 'please refrain from' sign [see Admin 31-07-13] is addressed? Or to put it another way, why might we think that there are women's only, 60+ and family sessions? These might be not so much a perk as protection.
