But it is the exact same story, word for word, on each site. All that proves is that entertainment pages must be filled and lazy journos know how to cut and paste before heading to the pub on a Friday afternoon.

C'mon, stand up whichever naughty SE23er has started this story.

That site also reminds us that Kirsty Allsop was the first celeb to start hanging around the cafes of Forest Hill.

The absence of a denial is not confirmation of truth; on balance I am not so far persuaded. I would like to see some photographs or a first-person account of the event. All we have so far is hearsay and a snowball of gossip.

Was anyone there to witness the event?

My suspicions are starting to get aroused.

I’ll pull together a couple of threads and let’s see if they tie together…

Only two days ago we wake up to find that we have a ram raid on cash points in SE23.

Then out of nowhere, right out of the blue, the international press (The Sun, Sky News of Australia and couple of other websites) are all breathlessly panting about these two young Americans popping up, in the heart of SE23, flashing a lot of cash (£10 and £20 notes, perhaps?) buying up well-priced latte n’ carrot cake.

That’s all I’m saying. You draw your own conclusions, dear SE23.com reader.

I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of it after the “shocked diners” (source:Sky News of Australia) have recovered and are able to report back to us.

look, this has gone on far too long.

The two people in question (not the Question Bar before anyone tries to twist this) popped into From the Forest for a quite lunch.

Having been recognised and not wanting to cause issues they swiftly left in their stretch limo. The problem is that in their haste to leave, their driver, more used to larger American roads, reversed into the cash machine at the station.

So there you have it.

Its clearly fabricated as any celebrity with commonsense would have known to go straight to Canvas and Cream, like all the other celebs do.

Perhaps they read your posts Roz and decided to try a more egalitarian cafe. Perhaps you are really Beyonce?

No, I'm Helen Mirren, but whenever anyone asks I always deny it.

Cool

All I can add is that JayZ and Beyonce didn't visit me! When I told my 14 year old I would not have recognized them if they did she was a bit gobsmacked. I have had Helen Lederer, that I did recognize. Someone from in-betweeners (customers told me after getting excited, but I wouldn't know) and a female kids tv presenter on a few occasions that is a very nice customer, but yet again customers have told me! So maybe Forest Hill does have a few celebs living here or close by on our doorstep!

As previously mentioned, two memebers of Dexys Midnight Runners were seen by the station - Kevin Rowland and I'm unsure of the other chap's name, but I see him about quite a lot - with quiff and 50s dressed.
