Hi,

Did they actually get any money?

The cash machines did look very bashed up but they didn't seem damaged enough to expose the cash.

Didn't actually look successful though.

Had to get through some pretty hefty bollards first. I imagine the car (and hopefully driver) came out worse! What an idiot.

I'm sure the car driver was the innocent party and there are witnesses to vouch for the poor driving of the cash machine, which was really to blame for this incident. This is an all too familiar story 'sydenhamcentral'.

Popped down the station at lunchtime, the damage to the ATM's and the front wall is there for all to see. The ticket office was closed, but there were plenty of LOROL staff and workmen who I think are connected to work already being done hanging around.

I wonder when it'll be safe to operate the ticket office again, although that area didn't seem affected by the damage?

I am worried about the poor driver, just trying to get a few quid. I hope their claim for whiplash pays them plenty in compensation. Perhaps they could put their details here and we could help them RoflRoflRofl

Shame they did not (safely) push the whole building over.
If they had made that their aim they could have had a whip round and made some money.
Would have had half of se23 there to cheer them on too.

How very retro - I feel those early 90's vibes returning on many fronts now.

Perhaps it was the Forest Hill society in an attempt to bulldoze the station away and had nothing to do with the cash machnes.

Does anyone know when the front of the train station will be re done? It's six weeks or so since the 'drive in' and it's looking quite an eye sore.

The date given to the Transport Liaison Committee meeting was 12th October for repairs to be completed.

The whole station is an eye-sore. Must be the worst looking ticket office in London! I've hard'y noticed the rest of it being boarded up it's so ugly.

I spotted some Network Rail and London Overground workers in orange overalls assessing the site on Friday afternoon.

I see it's almost four months since the ram raid. If that 12October deadline is for real, then they'd better get their skates on. At least the wire mesh gating is down which means that pedestrians don't have to walk on the car park rather than the pavement (thuogh my bet is they'll do it anyway).

I put a post elsewhere on this site a few weeks back saying I'd asked Southern Trains what was happening. Silly me. It's not their station, of course. So I've tried TfL...

You folks are going to love this...

Having posted a question about this on the London Overground website, I've just received this reply.....

Dear Mr Sawers

Thank you for contacting London Overground.

I am sorry it has taken longer than expected to repair the cash machine at Forest Hill station. The works to carry out the repair has now been authorised and work will commence in the near future, unfortunately I am unable to provide specific dates.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused. If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Abdi Guhad
