Well news hot off the press.

Sebastian Roche have bought it!! The sale is going through at the moment. I chatted to the owner today and he has decided to develop the coach house - make the upstairs into 2 flats and sell on. So Sebastian Roche will move in there - potentially giving more space for Sainsbury's to take on. Or it is likely they will knock through so they have a large corner plot!! Clearly they are making enough money!

Thanks for the update Tersie. I must learn not to get too excited about these things as they always disappoint. Good for Sebastian Roche, but a little boring for HOP Thumbdown

I know - it is a shame it was not picked up by a wine shop / wine bar with snacks maybe, great corner location. I am going to look into what is happening with The Old Bank - be great if a nice pub goes in there. As you have probably seen Dominos are looking to go into a site in Stansted Road (the old antique shop) with a yard out the back for bikes, much more suitable for their operation.

Does anyone know how long the White Wood shop will remain the high street's greatest eye-sore?

No but call Sebastian Roche estate agents and ask them! They've bought it so hopefully can give us some insight into their plans...

Does anybody know if the Whitewood shop people are still trading without the shop? If so, does anybody have the contact details?
