will any of the Portas initiative allow some space for local artists to have temporary exhibitions? can any of the empty shops be made over for this use on a very short term basis?

Yes it will.

There will be two outlets for you - the community hubs (which will eventually be looking for an Artist-in-residence) and The Shop Revolution (pop up shops in Forest Hill, Sydenham and Kirkdale).

It's still very early stages, so we do not have dates yet, but please sign up at see3.co.uk if you have not already done so, so that we can keep you informed of progress.

Minutes from the first Marketing committee of the SEE3 (Portas Team) have been made available on http://www.see3.co.uk/2012/10/see3-marke...es-111012/

Two important roles have been filled:
Louise Brooks - Shop Revolution consultant
Deborah Efemeni - SEE3 Market Makers Coordinator

Louise was part of the core team that bid for Portas funding.
Deborah has experience on Lewisham's town centre management team, and currently runs Catford's Sunday market.

Two other roles are still to be advertised and filled; Town Team Coordinator and Creative Artist.

I was interested to read the first comment on this page http://www.see3.co.uk/about/

It made me wonder if there has been an attempt to get a team together to try to get Portas funding for HOP?

I've no idea how that would work, how much work would be involved etc.

But it's very obvious that Bellenden Rd in Peckham, Lordship Lane, Kirkdale, Sydenham and Forest Hill are all at various stages of forward progress - whereas HOP remains locked in some sort of slow-ish death, Sainsbury's or no Sainsbury's.

So could getting a team together/working with FHSoc or HOPRA or whoever be a way forward?
