Once ell phase 2 is operational i assume people would take the bus to peckham rye instead as its a zone 2 station which may relieve hop of some parking pressure and also cause a loss of customers to the high street.

I think that this is a good point, however do consider that there is still demand from people who live in, or close to, Honor Oak on the Peckham side of One Tree Hill, to use the closer HOP station - this as I understand it is the core representation of the campaigns for this extension. Unfashionable to mention I know, but there will also be some travelling south too and a zone 3 station would be better for them.

Maybe extending the 63 would be a good move for our high street

Agreed - any transport links must be good for that.

What's happening to the N63 route then?
That's been a lifesaver for me trying to get home from nights out in Farringdon, because it goes to Sydenham Hill and I get off the stop just before the Horniman.
So does it mean it won't be running that far when the new timetable comes in?
A bit worrying for those of us who live near the Horniman/London Road.

Found an interesting map in an old report - Relative Public Transport Levels, figure 2.3:
http://www2.lewisham.gov.uk/lbl/document...ontext.pdf

Bear in mind this is from 2005 which is pre-Overground extension. It does indicate a low level of public transport use to the West of HOP and it would be interesting to be able to compare with a more recent map. In isolation, this does indicate a need for better transport links in that area and may also explain the traffic congestion too.

I've always wondered why the 63 doesn't terminate at the Chandos.
Buses do run over the hill and across HOP bridge as demonstrated by the rail replacement buses we've had so many of lately. A 63 would allow me to visit that ace french cafe near Boris Karloff's old house. I wish they would consider opening in the Old Bank as a bistro!

Can I suggest that any people supporting the 63 extension contact the Crofton Park Transport User Group. http://www.cptug.org/

They are interested in all transport in the Crofton Park Ward (it says on their website!). They are trying to increase the trains in Crofton Park which must be good.
They have an AGM coming up on the 20 March if anyone wants to find out more etc.

A 63 was spotted going into Honor Oak Park today. Was it lost?

No, due to the roadworks on Forest Hill road the buses are meant to be turning around Marmora and Therapia roads. But a bus hit a car down there yesterday which caused chaos. I hear the 63 is still turning at Brockley rise this morning too (via East Dulwich Forum). Don't know whether this has turned into the preferred turning point for the duration of the works or whether its just for the weekend until the powers that be are back in their offices tomorrow.

Would be nice if the drivers could pick up a few passengers on their route (or continue with pax down to HOP station) - anyone had such a nice surprise?
