An exciting new garden fringe festival launches in 2012 to run alongside the established RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Grow Mayow is going to be part of it, and has some exciting plans for one or more events in this period, and with our Sydenham Fringe Trail map (inspired by the Sydenham Arts Festival Visual Arts Trail), we are encouraging others to join us in celebrating gardening in all possible ways.

We are interested in:

  • all possible ways people can care for plants and use them to enhance their lives, including
    • begonias and bedding plants in borders
    • beautiful lawns
    • planted up pallets
    • productive fruit and veg gardens
    • wild life gardens and nature reserves
    • guerrilla gardening
  • promoting local professional gardeners, helping them develop the skills which will allow them to earn a living looking after other people's gardens.
  • using gardens to show case other activities and crafts - art exhibitions and performances

To learn more, and to stay up to date with what we're doing in Sydenham, visit our web site and send us your ideas - but even better, come to our launch.

Thursday January 26th, 6.30, Here For Good Centre, 17 Sydenham Road, London, SE26

where Annie Gatti, Gardening correspondent on The Times, will be able to tell more about the Chelsea Fringe in other parts of London, and you will be able to join in an exchange of ideas. We will also be setting up "Sydenham Community Gardeners Ltd" as a not-for-profit company to help manage this "Sydenham Fringe" and we hope further events to come.

We are also on Facebook here

For more on the Chelsea Fringe across London, see the main site here - - and on Facebook here
