I went to look at a house in Honour Oak Rise (What lovely road, expensive, too expensive unfortunately, but lovely) and discovered for the first time One Tree Hill.
I have to admit, although I knew of it I hadn't been there before. What a hidden gem! It reminded me of where I grew up and playing in the local woods down in Devon but with one of the most amazing view over London, anywhere.
Shame my son 2 month old son Thomas was asleep all the time we were there, even bumping over the seemingly endless steps.
What a great local resource. And quiet too. I loved it. I can't want to take Thomas there when he's a little older and watch him climbing trees and playing hide and seek.[/align]

Sorry, dbboy, but if you want to come and live in these parts then please be aware we spell it Honor Oak and not in the way that you have used.
Origin of the reason for the spelling is uncertain, but it is widely used including the top of this very page!

Yes, my mistake, not dbboy (everyone makes mistakes Derby Bill so it seems! I presume you are joking of course over the spelling and the Royston Vasey welcome! ;-)

You're right, Sydenhamcentral, it is a truly lovely place. I have two children who love playing there - they have real adventures. Great views, fun for sledging in winter and picking blackberries in August. Hope your son enjoys it as he gets older.

Have always assumed that this is just because "honor" is the older spelling of the word. Is there another explanation?
