Officers from Perry Vale Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be at Vancouver Road at the junction with Hurstbourne Road SE23 on Wednesday (16.11.11) to raise awareness of burglary and reminding people of the measures they can take to prevent them from becoming a victim.

Sgt Philip Moore said:" We will be urging homeowners and tenants to take simple steps to guard against the risk of being targeted by burglars winter. As the evenings are now darker, burglars are on the prowl for valuables and cash, recognising that homes tend to be getting ready for seasonal celebrations and may have gifts and items around and on display. Sheds/garages are also targeted by burglars and often they use material in there as a means of getting into properties."

Apart from sharing crime prevention advice officers will also be property marking pedal cycles with UV pens so if it is stolen there is an identifiable mark.
