Also meant to say, when I bought meat I bought it from the Nine Elms Sainsbury's and never, ever had a problem in literally a couple of decades. It was very often chicken breasts I bought, as well.

That does make me wonder if as has been suggested it's an issue with the particular shops/deliveries/suppliers round here.
