I wonder why there is no bus going from Honor Oak to Blackheath. It would be very nice if there was.

just looking at the 12 bus route. Still getting to know the area. I guess you get off the bus at Shooters Hill? Thanks for that.

The 202 goes to Blackheath. You can catch it at Leegate (or a lot nearer if you live where I live).

Or the 122 or 185 to lewisham and the 54 from there. Goes right past the station

thanks everyone for your replies. It seems that there isn't a direct bus that will take you right up to Blackheath, but it sounds like the bus connections are pretty good anyway.

I normally just go into Lewisham, then get the 54/108.

From where I am its very easy I get the 202 from Perry Hill / Catford Hill which goes direct to Blackheath, but thats probably too far from Honor Oak. Handy for any Perry Valers reading this though...

AFAICT there is not a bus that goes from Honor Oak to Blackheath.
Agreed with OP. It would be great if there was.

You cannot have a direct bus from every place to every place. One change not a disaster I would have thought.

I don't think anyone is claiming a disaster :-)
I was merely agreeing with the OP - it would be nice if there was a direct bus, we would certainly use it. As it stands, once you take into account pushchair and four year old, not having a direct bus means that we rarely go to Blackheath/Greenwich Park by public transport as a family. It does not make practical or economic sense.

Move to Forest Hill. Then you can have a bus direct to Blackheath!

Just buying a house in Honor Oak so too late to move to Forest Hill, although I would be interested to hear what the bus is as maybe this would be a good route to go.
Its not a disaster not having a direct bus route, but I also have a four year old who doesn't like journeys that are too long with too much waiting around and the price becomes £8 instead of £4 for a return trip. I'm not expecting London transport to lay on a service just for us, I was just saying in my OP that it would be nice to have a direct bus route! Transport links in HOP are very good actually and I'm looking forward to investigating the area around the docks.

Agreed with Shimmysister, there are lots of other interesting places to explore.

Route 202 runs from Crystal Palace to Blackheath.
It runs down through Sydenham to Perry Hill, then to Catford Bridge and on to Blackheath.
Technically, I think it briefly passes through SE23 at the bottom of Perry Rise - some might say this stretches the Forest Hill boundary a little - but hey-ho a short walk gets you there.

What I meant is that I live in Forest Hill (SE23) and I only need to walk along two roads to catch the 202 bus.
