We will be soon moving to the forest Hill Dartmouth Road area. Can I please have as much inf as possibnle about where is considered to be a safe area and where we should avoid. Is it dangerous at night if one goes out for a drink. Is there much street crime and burglary in that area.

I've lived on Dartmouth Road for 12 years now. I haven't had any bother at all. Apart from a bus stop outside my bedroom window that's the only noise that troubles me.
It's a good place to live, right in the heart of the place.

Smile Thank you so much for this report. It was just that when I checked another site it reported a burglary with violence in that area and it left us feeling a little vulnerable. Thanks again for this it does help to put our minds at rest especially when we do not live near that area now.

I've lived in Sydenham Park Road, just off Dartmouth Road, for 6 years or so, and never had any problems beyond the kind of thoughtless or antisocial behaviour you see everywhere.

I occasionally get irritated by a bit of noise at night, and we've had a pram nicked (though we were a bit stupid to leave it in the communal stairwell), and had a car wing mirror knocked off by p**sed-up kids, but nothing serious.

I've never felt threatened, although if i was at home i did used to escort my wife home from the station when she'd been out late, more because it's a nice thing to do than anything else. I've not heard of any safety concerns about Dartmouth Road at night.

I think it's a nice area; loads of parks, butcher, baker, fishmonger, greengrocer all nearby, a few decent independent shops on dartmouth road itself, with a swimming pool arriving soon and hopefully bringing further regeneration with it.

Don't worry, i'm sure you'll feel comfortable once you're here!

I bought a flat on the estate next to the pools on Dartmouth Rd last year, and havent had much problem with Dartmouth Road itself. There are the usual antisocial behaviour issues but nothing out of the ordinary and 99% of the time I've never felt threatened or vulnerable in this area Thumbsup

I live over this side of Forest Hill and have never had any trouble on Dartmouth Road. Some of the roads off it are really nice. Derby Hill, Thorpewood Avenue and Sydenham Park Road are all nice. Good schools, Library, pools, plenty of hairdressers etc so you'll never want for a short back and sides.
