Not sure if this is related, but when I got back yesterday eve, part of Grierson (between the White Wood Shop and the start of Garthorne) was closed with a few police cars and a van standing around. Nothing serious I hope.

According to the guy who runs the newsagents, someone has received stab wounds. Very very sad if true.

Having lived in this area for over 20 years this is the first "stabbing" incident I have heard of - please don't think you have moved into a bad area. I hope whoever was stabbed is ok but why oh why is this happening here!!"!!!!

I rented for a few years a decade ago. I decided to buy based on that experience. Could it be the recession be influencing things?

We live in a area safer than many in London, but we do still live in London and with that you will get some crime.

The latest crime map...

Apparently it was drugs related - not the first time they have attacked each other!!! So there ends my interest - don't really mind if they do kill each other

Sandybaby

I agree.

I have no sympathy with a criminal who gets hurt whilst carrying out a crime.

whilst the majority of stabbings do appear to be gang and drugs related this is still a human being - and I would much rather young people are educated well so they can get worthwhile jobs and steered away from crime. I don't know what the government are doing to address the gang problem in London (and other cities) but it clearly isn't enough Sad
Has anyone any idea what central govt/Lewisham are doing to assist?
Parents don't work hard to bring up their children only for them to join in with the gang culture so prevalent in certain areas - this must affect many families in our area sadly.

I lived in Shepherds Bush in West London all my life before moving to HOP 6 years ago. I promise you the difference is night and day!

This is one incident, let's not blow it out of proportion. HOP is a great, generally safe area.

I personally take no pleasure from anyone getting stabbed, and people should keep in mind as this is local these people's families might read this forum, even if we ignore the fact that we don't know what happened yet.

People are jumping to conclusions a bit assuming it is drug related, and to say that they don't mind people killing each other in our neighbourhood is bordering on sick!

Ryan
I agree the full facts are not known. All that I and others are saying if they were both criminals then should we lose any sleep.

I too got off the train at Honor Oak on Saturday evening to see all the police tape and Grierson Road cordoned off. It was very shocking as my husband was stabbed on Grierson Road a few years ago and then, almost a year to the day later, was chased by another gang of lads who appeared to be intent on doing the same. Gangs of lads regularly hid in front gardens in the dark and waited for people getting off the trains at night. It was only when plain clothes police officers patrolled the road in the evenings that this stopped. When I saw the tape this Saturday my heart sank. I don't think that anyone can assume that this area is safer than any other and we must be vigilant at all times, especially in the area of the station and in the dark.
