Quite right. Michael's photo proves that 50% of cyclists ride on the pavements.

Agree, it's almost always teenage guys, and there is absolutely no need for it at all. All the drivers are used to cyclists, so they expect you to be on the road, and they generally make way for you.

You get there in twice the time riding on the pavement, because you're constantly dodging pedestrians and having to wait at junctions - I learnt this when I was about 7 years old, shame they haven't worked it out yet.

Hm, I agree in principle re. cyclists, but there seems to be a lot of water running down that side of the road he should be using, may not have been too safe on a bike?

I deliberately didn't point out the obvious for fear of starting this debate all over again.

So get off and push!

I saw another person cycle onto the pavement at Barclays Bank to go along London Road. The Police car parked across the road did nothing and did not seem to deter him in the slightest.

Michael, you are right, he should have got off the bike. I wasn't trying to defend his behaviour - I too get annoyed when someone whizzes past me on the pavement.

a cyclist on the pavement is fine by me if it means one less car on the road.

"Job", surely, not "field"?

Cyclists on pavements,
Cyclists that go through red lights
etc etc.

Now lets balance it up bit
Drivers that stop in cycle zones at traffic lights
Drivers that park in cycle lanes
Pedestrians that cross the road without looking
etc etc

Let's face it, there are prat cyclists just as there are prat drivers and pedestrians. To me they're all as bad as each other.

It was amazing the morning to watch how many drivers (cars, lorries, coaches) couldn't understand how 'Road Closed' could apply to them. Lots of fun watching them doing a u-turn after Taymount and coming all the way back again when they found out that 'Road Closed' didn't just apply to other people.

Yes, I stood there and shook my head at them in as a condescending manner as I could. Like lemmings they were.

I on the other hand, laughed joyously as I cycled down the pavement avoiding the ballards.

Only joking, I didn't even know it was closed Laugh

Well done to the local police team for dealing with a dangerous cyclist on the pavement. But it would be best to stop cyclists on the pavement before they knock down a pedestrian.

Hopefully the pedestrian is ok. Not sure the same can be said for the motorcyclist who was taken out by a car on one of my least favourite parts of my ride to work today. Road closed and the only good thing being it happened so close to Kings he should have got fairly rapid attention.

Another naughty cyclist from another thread caught on Google Cameras http://g.co/maps/2ynmu. I thought I should post it here to avoid others from commenting on this law breaking on an unrelated thread (like last time).

And another just a little way down the same road http://g.co/maps/zdnv7

To stop an influx of similar submissions, it might be worth considering that with very little effort we could all find articles and videos that show muppet cyclists from across the globe.

Similarly, we could also find examples of bad drivers, dangerous motorcyclists and inconsiderate pedestrians.

We all use the same road, and take care to look after one another.

Be careful out there.

I have to agree. There is little point posting images like this just to show how widespread the use of pavements is by two-wheeled pedal vehicles.

I think that this is a four wheeled pedal vehicle that needs to be ridden on the pavement (see previous image), but then he was about to park at the next lamp post along, just opposite another pavement cyclist. On the last picture, if you turn round, you will see a car going the wrong way out of the car wash towards Perry Vale.

I wouldn't have mentioned it, but you'll never guess what was coming towards me, between the tables, outside a cafe near where I work...
