Just PMd you. Very central. The shopkeepers are closing up apparently. Perhaps its more London wide rather than FH specific but not worth taking any chances.

Wife has just been told to leave Crystal Palace Park by the police because of a 'large gang'. Wife didn't actually see anything trouble.

Hi All

Not a happy day is it? Anyone heard anything else about any troubles in the F/H area, had to drive through Peckham yesterday and that was pretty unpleasant, so would like to avoid any probs today.

Take care folks.

If things are as bad as they sound in Forest Hill at the moment can I suggest that people walk home in groups from the station this evening. Please think of others who may be more vulnerable than yourself.

I'm sure that everybody will be safe, but help each other to feel safe around the town centre this evening. Please minimise risk to yourself and other people.

Can anyone confirm or deny Twitter rumours that FH station has been closed? Also can anyone comment on the current situation in the area around the station? Am growing increasingly concerned about being able to get back to pick up my daughter from childcare tonight.

Many thanks

Roz,

Thanks for this.

Does anyone know if Honor Oak is experiencing anything like this yet?

Horniman Museum has closed early today - not because of any specific problems there but 'because of transport disruption' according to their Facebook site.

Hi. I have just returned to FH from Kings on the 185. Apparently looting is ongoing at Camberwell Green though I didn't see it. Police intelligence to hospital officials is that more trouble is expected in the area at 4pm. Staff should leave promptly if they don't need to be in the area. Lordship Lane calm. A few police looked like they might be advising shops to close but I'm not sure. Some shops trading with metal fronts down and others closed altogether. FH station looked OK though couldn't say whether it was closed. WHSmiths has a broken window and Sainsbury's had its metal shutters down inside the glass.

Forest Hill still quiet. Shops closed, but just people going about their business peacefully.

Nothing to suggest the station is closed, but track arrivals/departures here:

JoG - is the WHSmith FH or Peckham, or just something you heard? I'd only post incidents heard from a reliable witness in case they're not true guys.

Thanks again all for all the updates, quite tough being the other side of London and not knowing what is going on. Please keep posting, I'll have to drive home later and will be good to know what's occurring at the Hill.
