On the assumption that the odds are, unfortunately, stacked against getting this refused on use grounds, I agree that we should focus on the signage issue. Lewisham could and should exercise some control over signage. The policies are clearly there for them to insist on it being sympathetic to the building. If the plans are not of the more subtle kind highlighted by Michael we should really push Lewisham on this point. Lewisham should set out as a condition in their granting of permission, if they do so, that it is on the basis of specific sympathetic signage which has been agreed as part of the application.
