Just had delivered yet another pizza delivery flyer (sigh) when I noticed it was for Domino's (Catford). Had to chuckle when I recycled it.

Maybe the car was engaged in a bit of marketing... ;-)

According to findaproperty.com, The Old Bank has been let. Anyone know any more?

Was it ever not 'Let' since Dominos first showed interest?

It never had a 'let' sign outside during all the Domino's hoo-ha. And if it isn't let, then stating 'let agreed' on the website will stop potential interested parties contacting willmotts.Confused

Hi All, the latest news on The Old Bank is that a local business man is interested in opening a gastro pub / community hub on the site. This is still at a very early stage in terms of negotiation and it may or may not come to anything. If this does progress obviously a planning application will be submitted and we will all be aware of this.

Surely if it is to remain as a eating/drinking establishment, a planning application wouldn't be required as it is not a change of use?

As far as I know - if it is primarily a pub serving food then planning wise that is different to a sit down restaurant serving drinks.

That would be fantastic news if true - if combined with a Sainsbury's Local opposite, it would be a sign of a parade really on the up. Fingers crossed...

With the lease rate (still) advertised I didn't even dare hope for this. Fantastic news indeed.

Great news about the 'local business man' being interested. If that local man happens to be reading this, can I suggest a pub in the style of a small pizza restaurant/pub like the Regent in Highbury. http://g.co/maps/3ygmf . No large kitchens required therefore maximising space and appeals to the local market (clearly dominoes did their research).

If anything like this pops up, I hereby pledge my services to driving it a profit...

Would be very exciting if it works out. I like the idea of a 'community hub'. Does this mean the negotiations are over the extortionate rent??! I'm keeping my fingers' crossed...

Let's hope the gastro pub/community hub happens, sounds ideal. I'm sure they will do really well and will get massive support from the locals. Does the local business man want to meet the locals and brainstorm some ideas? I think we should update the thread title now....don't know how to do it?!

just walked past the old bank and there's a planning application up for a take away. Has the spectre of dominos returned or is this a new application does anyone know?

That is the old one for Dominos. It is dated 2011. Someone has moved in and will spruce it up a bit but will be using for 'theatrical storage' for now. I'm guessing he'll do something later but playing his cards close to his chest. Nice guy. Called Matt.
Give him a chance I say.

As noted at http://www.southeastcentral.co.uk/thread...ank.2829/, activity at The Old Bank today - blinds drawn and windows covered. Sounds of work within.

Any insight into what/why?
