Thanks Tersie. So the landlords are basically holding out for Domino's if they're not accepting other offers!

No the landlords are keeping options open, don't think they would hold out for Dominos if they get another offer. As I said it is likely the appeal will be turned down so they will have to look at offers on the table....if there are any forthcoming in the new year. We just have to see what happens with the decision. If they win they will be opening up in roughly 6 months. If not hopefully someone else will take it on.

I'm confused, then. I heard it on good authority that an offer had been made, but the potential bidders are still waiting to hear. I assumed it was because the landlords were holding out for Domino's... If not, then I wish they'd accept the new offer!!

There was refurbishment activity in the former Betram Bakery at 3 HOP on Monday afternoon. Any word on what's going in there?

The Old Bank is a prime spot but the landlord is still asking too much rent. Lets see what happens, the decision will be made on the appeal soon, if turned down (which we think will be the case) maybe the landlords might be more realistic.

However apparently the site is a poor state of repair and would need a lot of investment to bring it up to scratch. Lets see what happens!

I received news this morning that the planning inspector has upheld Lewisham's decision to reject Domino's application for conversion of the Old Bank.

The inspector's main concern was the use of and parking of the mopeds at this location.

I think this justifies the many local residents who said this is not the right business for this location.

Let's hope that some other businesses now come forward to make use of this prime location in Honor Oak.

Thanks for this update Michael, looking forward to hearing if any of the parties that previously expressed an interest come back.

The official dismissal of the appeal can be seen at http://www.pcs.planningportal.gov.uk/pcs...oid=66050.

The decision notice is attached. It was the mopeds that did them in.

Fingers crossed The Old Bank building becomes occupied soon by a business worthy and fitting of its architecture.

Well done all those who worked hard to obtain this result

Don't worry, there'd be nothing civil about it.

Rumour mills are in action if only the Old Bank had a customer for everytime it is mentioned these days when it was open.

well according to below its suggested that Waitrose are looking at the site http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/...p?5,836801

Personally cannot see this and dont think we need both a sainsburys and a waitrose

mcree,

I suspect that at some piont the vast majority of forum members were customers of the Old bank. I stopped being a customer having consistently received poor service.

The reality, as has been previous identified, is that we all invariably try and support out local businesses but only if they can provide an appropriate balance between service and price given the competition.

The site is not big enough for Waitrose and there is not enough parking in Honor Oak for the hoards of middle-class shoppers from across South East London who would flock to the area to visit the first Waitrose with an SE postcode.

When Waitrose are ready to open in an SE postcode I have a list of possible sites, starting with the Triangle on Liphook Crescent Rofl

Was almost run over by a Domino's Pizza branded Smart Car reversing up Tatnell Road (just behind HOP) this afternoon. Hope they aren't planning another application...
