A lot of though was given to the views of the church from London Rod and the station. There is a gap between the two sections so that, if you stand in the right position on London Road, you can see the spire. Not perfect, but we did work to preserve this view and would have liked to have achieved more.

The Forest Hill Central is a bit of a "Berlin Wall" in terms of architecture , and it does have a substantial impact in terms of views to the Christ Church and south of the line. It doesn't really fit with the overall townscape - a storey too high!

Surely it is a bit late to think of these matters. I assume the plans were on display before permission granted. We have to live with it now.

I would be inclined to agree Brian.
While I share the concerns of fellow FH'ers, it is too late to complain now.

I noticed they're dismantling the tower crane today.

So shouldn't the underpass redevelopment work have started by now?

I believe that goes ahead once the Platform 2 exit works are completed. Anything causing the closure of that exit during the underpass works would cause "chaos"

Cheers, Loca. Was wondering what the front would look like.

Still ?350k for a small 2 bed with a small terrace. I think I will put mine on the market for ?400k and see how I do. Anyone like a large two bed flat with a garden

Minutes away from FH station....
0.2 miles from FH station...
It overlooks FH station, last time I looked. The Perry Vale station side entrance is just across the road. I guess these are not good selling points.
This busy side entrance no doubt increases the local noise levels (as indeed the promised PV crossing would do, with cars stopping and accelerating away.)
I wonder if Berkeley have influenced both the decision to have the side gate closed early every evening, and the decision not to provide a controlled crossing here?
I have some sympathy will the potential new residents, but if you choose to live next to a station, then absolute peace and quiet were not your first priorities.

I wouldnt be suprised if the new residents start a petition to get the station closed as it causes them noise issues.
BTW, tongue in cheek. Mind you with the amount of people who move from cities to villages in the countryside and then complain about church bells I am not sure.......

Unless I'm missing something not all of the properties seem to have a kitchen! ?305,00 for a two bed flat with no kitchen seems a lot of money to me. Suppose it will help local restaurants though, as they'll obviously always have to eat out.

If you look at the penthouse plans 9'2" doesn't equal 3.48m and 8'11" doesn't equal 3.2m (?)

Just had an email from them. Their new price list.
1 bed flat, 621 sqf, ?230,000
2 bed, 2 bath, 791 sqf, ?345,000
If you want a car park its an extra ?20,000.
I'm sure some of you will think that's a bargain.

Sue: the 'kitchens' are part of the living areas, ie the flats don't have separate kitchens. The kitchen units are usually at the opposite end of the room to where the sofas are.
They've used a lot of artistic licence with the descriptions haven't they:
"11 minute link to London Bridge" - the timetabled journey time is up to 19 minutes on weekday mornings, and even at weekends it's 14 minutes.
"The centre of Forest Hill has a range of restaurants and bars ... Honour Oak and the Old Bank Italian Restaurant" - FH town centre obviously covers a far larger area than I realised!
"Many of the idyllic apartments at City Walk boast stunning panoramic views of the City" - yeah, if you stand on the roof, look in the right direction and squint, you might just make out the buildings at Canary Wharf.

According to their own transport page it's 15 minutes to London Bridge!
Perhaps Earlsfield Estates will buy the penthouse and convert it into 4 or 5 one-bedroom flats?

No, they'll buy one of the ground floor flats and try to dig out a basement.

Blushing Snail, I didn't really think there wouldn't be a kitchen, but even in the larger flats it doesn't appear to be a separate room, at least it doesn't have a door displayed, and appears in the corner of the living room. The smaller flats appear to have a table and chairs positioned where I would expect the kitchen(ette) to be. Personally I'd expect more for that kind of money, but maybe I'm out-of-date. Does anyone out there want to buy my garage in Taymount Rise for ?20,000?

I am currently living in Hong Kong and noticed an advert for the flats (now named 'City Walk') in the South China Morning Post yesterday, with an exhibition in the Landmark Oriental Hotel at the weekend.
This is a common trend I have noticed over here and I have half been expecting the Forest Hill Central flats to be advertised this way. There are number of points advertised, including historically low UK interest rates, 30% currency saving (slightly overstated at the moment, but as HKD is pegged to the USD, still significant) and rental returns of up to 6%.
Interestingly, nowhere do the words 'Forest Hill' appear...
I currently live in a luxury 1 bed apartment in HK, which is significantly larger than most out here, and still smaller than the City Walk flats. I may think it is tiny, but everyone I work with thinks it is enormous.
And no, the kitchen has no door. And yes, I mainly eat out - which I personally think might be a good thing for our neighbourhood.
From my experience, Hong Kong investors have appetite for exchange risk and are keen to see better returns than they are currently seeing on deposits. I'm not certain whether there will be take up, but it is clear that the developers are marketing further afield than many would expect for Forest Hill properties.
