Does anyone know what was going on last night at around 11ish? There was a helicopter hovering shining a spotlight over Forest Hill/Catford for ages.

Any ideas?

Noticed that - seems to be happening a fair amount at the moment!

Did you report it to the police?

Methinks Fishface is being ironic. It obviously was the police - but how come it seems to happen every year around this time? Are we having our annual crime wave or is it just 'our turn' to have the helicopter?

With a warm summer people tend to leave patio doors and windows open and so thievery esculates. There is every chance it was the police looking for a burglar, much easier to do from a thousand feet with IR than on foot.

According to the missus who is a met officer, the met only have 2 helicoptors so they are used pretty sparingly. Each borough can only get to use them so much so perhaps it is the turn of Lewisham.
