Just had a quick look at the map of the Olympic Torch Route for London - and there are only two stops south of the river.

Have London cabbies had an influence in restricting these recomendations and choices.

Why are we being robbed of the chance of cheering it along the South Circular - or up Perry Vale ?

I think we should be told.

A belated thought - will they bring along those nice chinese security guards that accompanied it last time ?

Wandsworth and Bexley - I wonder how they were selected? Perhaps by a cross-borough wiff-waff tournament.

Is Bexley not one of the five Olympic boroughs?

I assume Greenwich is also an Olympic borough and the observatory is an obvious place for the torch to go by and the great Olympic velodrome from 1948 in Southwark.

Surely it is a continuous route. Stops, presumably are just stops.

Excellent point.

Have re-checked Olympic site and guess what, the information is still very thin.

However the one point that is emphasised is that it is a relay and to be a relay there must be, by definition, a route.

Beyond descriptions of the stopping points, the london2012 site says little on the details of the route.

Maybe there is still a chance for us SE23'ers to see those cheeky chineses chappies tripping along the South Circular, accompanying the Olympic Torch. (Did you see those exciting highlights of their activities on the last visit, on the BBC over the last few evenings.)

Looks like our cheeky chinese chappies have had their chips.

It has been announced that 250-strong party will keep the Olympic Torch company on the 10-week journey round the UK. The super-fit hand-picked police runners will be supported by a further 41 Met officers and civilians to assist in managing traffic.

Apparently specialist sensitivity training will be provided along with additional instruction on how to keep flames alight.

No news on whether we will see the Olympic Torch on the South Circular.

A liitle more info has been published on the proposed route for the Olympc Torch and we get a visit for Lewisham to Wandsworth on Day 66 - 23 July 2012.

Not lot of detail on precise route down to street level but presumably we will be told.

Not sure if this is in term time or near its end - perhaps schools will make arrangements for pupils to line the route.

Detailed route published today.

On day 66 it would seem closest points will be Rushey Greeen and Bromley Road.

Details here:

On July 23rd, between 08:55 and 11:25 the torch relay will travel from Bromley, via Beckenham, Penge to Crystal Palace where it will loop round the National Sports Centre site and Crystal Palace Park several times. Lots of opportunity to see it and much better to be off the South Circular which is already far too congested. There is so much detail published on the official Olympic site down to the names and sometime photo's of the individual runners. Go check.
