Are you a runner? Available in July?
If so please consider running in the London 10K run http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk on July 10th on behalf of local charity the Voluntary Care Centre.
The VCC based on Stanstead Road is looking for runners who would be prepared to commit to raising about £200 each.
Please email juliafcoggins@gmail.com or info@voluntarycarecentre.co.uk if you are interested.
For further details about the work of the VCC please see their website http://www.voluntarycarecentre.co.uk
All funds raised will go towards the work of the VCC supporting vulnerable adults, children and families in Lewisham via befriending, food parcels, christmas gifts, shopping, gardening, driving scheme, hardship fund etc

a tad misleading.. surely this should be in the trading post section under the heading 'please donate £200 to us and you get to run 10km'
£200 for 10km? ..and who is going to sponsor you for that? Its not like its a long way!

ryananglem - have you ever run 10K? There are loads of people in this country who couldn't run 10k if they tried, and for whom training to do so would be a real achievement.
What about the post is misleading? I think we should be told.

Without wanting to get into some kind of arguement about if the charity is a worthy cause, the post was headed 'calling all runners'. Its more than 10km to my work and if i feel like a change from riding in during the week i'll run. No big deal, and you can walk it in a couple of hours. Its misleading and a money making exercise for the charity.. Nothing to do with running, so should be in trading post.

Since when has doing something for charity not been a money making event for the charity? Whoever these people are (and they seem to do a lot of good work - but always worth further investigation) they probably wished they'd never posted it, which is a shame.
Perhaps if you or one of yours were ever in need their charity you might have been more charitable yourself. But it's easier to criticise and debate the finer points of whether 10k is actually far enough for a charity event or not...
Shame.
