Hello everyone,
Could any one tell me why it is that as I live just off the top of the hill I do not get good mobile reception. I have to go to one window upstairs in the house to get a small signal. Is there anything that I can do about that apart from chaning my provider?
thanks
Orchid

I'm with Orange and my reception is fine! However O2 in my house is very weak - my former housemate blamed it on the windows, saying they were old and therefore had a high lead content which was disrupting the signal. Don't know if there's any truth in it Confused

It seems incredible that only a few meters away at the end of the road I get full signal strength? I don't understand it. I would have thought on top of the hill would be best, puzzling?

Which hill are we talking about? I know there's a dead spot at the top of Kirkdale/Sydenham Hill - for Vodafone (which I use) and, I think I read on this or the SE26 forum, possibly other networks as well.

I'm with Orange and have had problems in the past. I phoned customer services who told me they were doing work in the area for a few weeks. I really had to fight to get some money knocked off my bill as compensation...the guy said according to the terms and conditions Orange were entitled to do maintenance from time to time. Might be worth calling them to see if there's any work in the area at present which may be affecting your signal.

In the previous mobile reception thread, we discussed the poor mobile reception around the Wood Vale/Horniman Triangle area which affects most networks except for O2 who have a base station at the corner of Underhill Road/Lordship Lane which serves that area.

Virgin uses T-Mobile (and soon Orange) for it's base stations as it's a "virtual" network.
