Does anyone know anything about a major fire in Catford yesterday?
I live at the top of a block of maisonettes and can see in most directions for miles. Yesterday at around 17.30 I could smell smoke and looked out expecting something close. I was shocked to see a huge pall of black smoke over Catford and, even from the middle of Forest Hill, I could see a LOT of high flames. Looked like several roofs on fire somewhere near the town hall or maybe the flats above some of the shops at the town hall end of Rushey Green. It was obviously a very large fire and I can't believe I can't find anything about it online yet. Believe me, i've looked! Any help would be much appreciated.

Somebody set light to my garden shed yesterday, but I doubt that is what you saw. The firemen did say that the winds were causing fire to spread very rapidly yesterday, fortunately they got my shed under control very quickly.

Sorry to hear about yr shed. The one in Catford was a BIG fire across at least two roofs with a huge amount of smoke. I'd estimate that the flames were at 10-15" high. How's this idea for a new shed though: http://www.shedblog.co.uk/wp-content/upl...inshed.jpg
