Hi All,
Thanks a lot for the info. Really superb.
One more question I have concerns going to hospital on the magic day (which should be sometime in April). My wife and I have opted for King's instead of Lewisham hospital and we do not have a car. We were told about one young mom-to-be who went into hospital alone by bus. I think we would find that too much (can you imagine a woman with contractions on the 185, maybe with the usual people pretending to read so they don't have to give up their seat?). We are so far considering the taxi option but do know about people who were refused a taxi service because they didn't want to carry a woman about to have her baby...
Is there any advice you could give? Apart from, of course, use of a private car?

Choosing Kings is a VERY good plan (I went to Lewisham). Also do NCT, althought when I was pregnant, four years ago, the closest class was New Cross Gate and most of the glass were from Greenwich. But we are all still in touch and I highly recomend it.
We also don't have a car. But we used Forest Hill cars to get to the hospital. I was in labour on one journey as well. If you don't have a car, it is the only option.
Also, it depends on where you live in Forest Hill. But, if you live on the Perry Vale side of the rail station, the new Methodist Church on Normanton/Shipman Rd. does a mother and baby group. During those first few months a play group is a wonderful thing.
I have heard good things about Rubadubs. My son goes to a childminder, however. Do look at the childminder list from Lewisham Council and visit a few to see what works best for you.
