Curses for not voting for Jumping Bean! Every time I walked past I meant to, then by the time I got home I'd forgotten about it. Sad

This year's competition is now open at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KLC7GYJ

In previous years Forest Hill independent businesses have lost out because we have so many of them! (at least more than most other parts of Lewisham).

It would be good if SE23.com users could reach a concensus before voting and that way a local business, just as Horniman and the Dartmouth always win in local competitions.

Jumping Bean has been mentioned previously (I've never been there)
Le Querce has got very good reviews recently (and one bad one)
And there are a number of other independent shops all of which would be worthy winners.

Alternatively my anti-establishment tendency suggests that we could all vote for Aceri as a protest and see how long it takes Lewisham to realise that this prime site has been empty for years!

Who do other people think would be a worthy winner? and should we user block voting to win it for SE23?

The Hob (Comedy Night), the one thing that'd keep me in the area on a Saturday. A real asset to local entertainment in Forest Hill.

Dartmouth, Babur, Elachi and Thai Orchard. All good places to eat out.

I'm a big fan of Jumping Bean and it's always my first port of call for cards and gifts since it opened. A lot of love and attention has gone into that shop and I like to support a local company that always has very helpful and friendly staff.

It's really confusing that there is a national competition doing virtually the same thing at the same time!
'The best of' is running '14 days of love' across the current fortnight up to St Valentine's Day. I initially thought they were the same thing. The Fitting Studio is flying the flag for Lewisham and lingerie so far. Thumbsup http://www.thebestof.co.uk/loveometer/ByTown.aspx

CB Party Stores are still trading - but online. http://www.cbparty.co.uk/

It seemd that they (like other businesses) survived on trade from outside Forest Hill

Ah, sorry for the error. Yes, Yune closed but reopened as something else. Same with Kafe Laa.

What about the winner of the public vote? I don't see it listed on the Lewisham website. Anyone know?

It's here. Won by Supreme Animal Foods in Lewisham, who I've never hear of but who may be worth a look, as we have 37 pets.

(2 cats and 35 fishSmile).

Barbaros of Honor Oak second by just three votes.

It wouldn't have taken much to bring this award back to SE23 againMad
