Residents of Forest Hill Ward are cordially invited to the fourth Forest Hill Ward Public Meeting hosted by the ward councillors on Wednesday 6th February 2008, at 7.30pm, Holy Trinity Church Hall, off Sydenham Park. SE26.

The Meeting is part of a regular series open meetings hosted by the ward councillors where issues of interest to local residents can be discussed.

On the agenda for this meeting is the future of Forest Hill Pools
, and we'll be joined by officers from the council's property division to answer questions about the plans. We'll also be discussing the introduction of Ward Assemblies, but any issue can be brought up for discussion and we will try and help where we can.

If you'll be unable to attend the meeting, but would like to make a contribution on these or other issues, please feel free to email me at cllr_alex.feakes@lewisham.gov.uk, remembering to include your postcode.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Wouldn't it be appropriate to extend the invitation for an important local subject like this beyond residents of Forest Hill ward? I'm pretty sure the pool served/will serve a much wider area and many others would be interested in hearing from the officials. I presume it is unlikely that they would be willing to attend meetings in every ward in the area.

Dear Alex,
any chance of a quick update about the pool ahead of the meeting?
Rather than let rumours multiply it would be nice to get some indication about the latest position regarding funding and refurbishment. It also might help to make it an even more productive meeting if we have some idea about Lewisham council's intentions.

Many thanks,

Seeformiles

I believe this is the way ward meetings need to be set up, but I don't think anybody will be turned away. I went to the FH ward meetings when I lived in Perry Vale and intend to go to the Perry Vale meetings now I live in Forest Hill.

Just as a point of interest, when will the new local ward assemblies be established, and how will they run? Or is this still early days?

It would be helpful to have the minutes of the last meeting and action points therein, so that we can keep track of things. Could you please post these here, Alex?

Sydenham are having their first Assembly meeting at the beginning of March. I haven?t heard anything about Forest Hill/Perry Vale.

This document dated November 2007 says:

?? we expect all wards to have had an initial Assembly meeting by the end of July [2008] ??

Perhaps someone could raise this at the FH Ward meeting on Wednesday?

From what I hear it is more about a change of name rather than any substantial difference. They will probably be indistinguishable from ward meetings.

Don't know if the rules have changed but if this an area forum it used to be possible to place an item on the Mayor's agenda of one of his cabinet meetings.

Just a reminder about the meeting this evening.

7.30pm, Holy Trinity Church Hall, off Sydenham Park, SE23

Aileen Buckton, the Executive Director for Community Services, and David Booth, project manager, will be available to take questions on the future of Forest Hill Pools

We'll also be discussing:
- the Chrysalis PFI Decent Homes scheme;
- Localities Fund update; and
- the introduction of Ward Assemblies.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Alex
