Some time ago there were posts about a police investigation in the Devonshire Road area where people were asked for information about their neighbours- I can't find it so have started a new thread. This was a result of this case - see link- re a man who has serially raped women in Dulwich, Norwood, and elsewhere in south London. It went public at the beginning of June.
I haven't heard or seen much about it locally but people may want to have a look to see if they assist with any information.

This has been an ongoing investigation for some time now. Note the attacks go back 18 years!! How forensics could work out his mother died in 2000 is amazing...

I believe that at one time, they thought he might ride a motorcycle and the police checked every single registered bike owner of the right age in the FH/HOP area.

Yes this vile scumbag has been on the loose for many years now. I even heard about this when I was living in west london and it was on crimewatch some years back. I live in HOP now and a few months ago plain clothed policemen come to my home to ask questions about the neighbours, who they are, can I describe them, had I seen anything strange / or anyone acting odd etc. I think this door to door activity was indeed part of this investigation to see if they could identify any possible suspects. They seem to be centering this investigation now around SE23 - they must have something to go on, even if it is a tenuous link so lets just hope they catch him before he strikes again attacking poor defenceless old folk.

This didn't go public at the start of June - I have been following this case on Crimewatch UK and stuff like that for years now. Or are you talking about the e-fit going public?

Some of the information obviously comes from what he told his victims.

A lady was attacked in the next road to me some years ago.

Also I thnk he may have been foiled in another attempt in the next road recently.

I wasn't previously aware of this case so apologies if its old news. I saw it in the BBC website and put it together with the police door to door investigations. Hopefully he will be caught soon before he can do any more damage.

Regards

Not at all, Roz. It's good to remind people now and then, as it may reach someone new or jog someone's memory and bring new witnesses out of the woodwork.

It is possible that he is or has been a care-worker.

The police were going around again this morning showing the photo and asking if anyone knows him. Think it is a regular thing - maybe it is more about checking who is living in the houses given they think he lives/works in SE23?

Police came down our road on saturday. I thought they were going to ask me to spill the beans on the neighbours but they were just handing out leaflets telling us how to get in touch. Jolly nice of them. Maybe it was because the house on our road got its door kicked in last week (in broad daylight). Be on your guard......

Yes they came round to my street asking questions again on Sunday with the photofit, hope something comes of all this focus.

Foxe - what street do you live in? Getting doors kicked in in broad day light is very bad. I work from home and try to keep an eye out, had a couple of dodgy people calling at the door but apart from that things have been ok.

It is not the most distinctive picture. He could be any one of us from the photo.

I think they have a very good idea of how he looks, but are withholding some detail.

True, but read the description as well

Quote:
"The victim saw the suspect in dark conditions but states he is a light skinned black man, with markings on the side of his face. These could be a number of things such as freckles, scarring or spots."

The Minstead suspect is described as a light-skinned black man, in his 40s, with an athletic build. He is well-spoken and polite with a soft voice.

Forensic investigations have shown he originates from the Windward Islands in the Caribbean. He has a connection to Brighton and his mother died in 2000.

That's pretty specific. If you look at the Census figures, then that description only applies to 83 people living in Forest Hill

Really? In that case they must really be closing in on him and hopefully it will only be a matter of time

To think this has gone on since the 1990's is scary - I still think it should have had more publicity..

Ok, I have been contacted by the police on this guy (follow link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7443435.stmBBC Website). He seems to be terrorising quite a few women, and I don't know if it is the Actor guy or not, but the police seem to think they know him.
