At last night's Perry Vale Ward Assembly, local councillor Susan Wise, and Cabinet member with responsibility for parks, announced that the Friends of Mayow Park (FOMP), which was established in 1993, have just adopted a constitution, and that from now on FOMP will be publishing details of their meetings, which will be open to all, on notices in the park and on their web site. The next will be March 8th at 7.00 at Forest Hill School.
Among the good works which FOMP are involved with are getting a new play area for teenagers on the north side of the park, and some resurfacing work on paths. In previous years there have been bird and tree walks, but no mention was made of these.
It's probably worth mentioning here also the children's permaculture club on the last Sunday of very month, 11-00 - 13.00, to be run by Grow Mayow, starting Sunday after next - for more details, see the Grow Mayow blog
I'm not going to be able to make this next FOMP meeting, but I very much hope we'll hear from it some more details about how the old pavilion is to be brought back into use, in particular getting a café in there - at least that's what I think Mayow Park needs above all else!
BTW - SE23.com Admin - apologies for all these cross postings with Sydenham Town Forum. I just don't know which of these two Forums is more relevant to Perry Vale & Mayow Park!
