Is it worth me heading to London Bridge or staying on the first Southeastern from Charing Cross I can get til I arrive somewhere nearby (Ladywell/Catford/Lewisham)? Questions... questions... Basically, is London Bridge ******** tonight?

See my post on the East London thread line re my shannanigans yesterday! I think whereever you go it's going to be difficult. If you know your train is going from Charing Cross, stay on it and get as close as possible to FH and walk from there. I managed to get to New Cross then got the 171 (stop t) all the way to the bottom of Brockley Rise which meets Stanstead Road and then walked up from there. Good luck!

Do not trust the Live Systems. They were telling complete porkies this morning!

This morning i used the calling ats to monitor progress because it gives a truer picture than the summarised view.
As a rule of thumb for HOP, you only get a true indication of when the train is arriving after it has passed crystal palace however unfortunately this doesnt work from London Bridge as its the first station.
On the way back I took a train to East Dulwich then looked for a cab station but a bus came instead so took it to forest hill then walked across to HOP

I third the Live System comments - I checked them before I left the office last night at 6:30pm and it was telling me everything was on time - imagine my surprise at the bedlam I encountered when I arrived at London Bridge.
Ended up getting Jubilee line to Canary Wharf then onto DLR to Lewisham and then bus (185) to Forest Hill - got home at 8:50pm.
really not looking forward to the commute home tonight - not even going to bother with London Bridge - DLR from Bank and bus from Lewisham is my way home - just hope it doesn't take the 2 hours it took me to get in this morning.

I wouldn't bother with Southeastern, they're packing up for the night at 9pm according to LBC Radio.
Their website has a contingency timetable in operation which claims the last service from Charing X is after midnight, but that isn't the case tonight.

Thanks all. I left work early and got to CX station at 5, to see one train only on the platforms, and no more timetabled on the boards. Jumped on and stayed on til New Cross then 172 from Shardeloes Rd. Not too bad. This morning I got the 172 from Stondon Park (an empty one fresh from Brockley Rise - bliss) and was in work on Haymarket 55 mins later, so not too bad either.

Refunds, anyone?
According to the BBC website, Southern no longer use the old 'void days' system to get around compensating passengers, so after 4 days of cancellations and severe delays (plus associated bus fares) I'm definitely going to apply for a season ticket refund.

Stay on whatever train you are on that gets you as close to home as possible.
I compile travel news for the radio and over the past 3 days have been watching the live departure boards and live rail info alter every five minutes or conflict from site to site. Even trains scheduled on a special service have been pulled last minute.
I'd say get a bus, but even they've been suffering getting up dog kennell hill... plus they take ages.
Good luck

After being told trains would be running again from 10am yesterday, I got to Charing Cross last night to find the one and only train on the board had just left, with no sign of another.
I took the Victoria line to Brixton and then the P4, which was relatively quick. I had a delightful round trip to college of 5 hours.

Southern services continue to be rubbish. 0814 from HOP to London Bridge was cancelled yesterday and today it was only 4 coaches.
