Hello there, I'm new to this site, looks good.

Can anyone tell me what the snow is doing in Forest Hill/Sydenham and if the roads are affected.

Thank you

Snowing heavily at the moment. Total of around 3" where I am - Netherby Road. Traffic reported to be moving on the main roads when I heard about 45 minutes ago. Netherby Road looks to be barely passable now. No doubt the Council will be round soon with the Road Closed signs instead of the gritters.

Snowing quite heavily now with 2.5 inches of white stuff on the ground. I am on the border of Forest Hill with Sydenham and my road is only accessible on foot now. Will be much worse this evening if compacted snow becomes ice with fresh snow on top.
I would expect that the main routes are not so bad, but maybe someone else can give you better update on the main roads.

FH Soc on Twitter reporting "There are two P4s and two P12s stuck at the top of Honor Oak Park, just before the junction with Forest Hill Road".

All this snow is the perfect welcome to the group of Tibetan Monks currently in the museum.

We had troubles this morning to get to work. Langton rise hill side was a nightmare. Almost skidded against a pole. The road was not covered with grit and salt. Is the council doing anything to cover the roads, especially the hilly ones?

Southbound traffic appears to be stationary on Honor Oak Park...

Canonbie Road is impassable, cars going down the Forest Hill road side have no grip in places and are just slidding down. Those that get to the corner are not making it any further and have to either turn around or reverse back down. Suggest staying away till the weather improves.

I am in town, and due to leave work around 6ish. I am dreading the commute. Has anyone had trouble on the trains/overground?

Trains out of Charing Cross seem very delayed around 60 with cancellations and the Southern trains seem to be in the same situation from London Bridge with around 60min delays and cancellation. They do not seem to be coping very well.

Last year during the snow blizzard one night, I tried to get a bus from Aldwych (172 goes to HOP) as Charing Cross trains were not running and the bus did not manage to go further than Elephant & Castle it eas getting too dangerous and sliding all over the place. I ended up walking from Elephant to HOP and it took me 3 hours. A week later I was on crutches for 8 weeks with a dislocated knee. This year I am not sure my knee will hold up for 3 hours walk but I am thinking about getting a bus to Peckham or if it gets anywhere near and walking from there.

I got a train back from Purley at 3ish & although there were some delays & cancellations there still seemed to be plenty of trains & ELL trains running.

The snow seemed a lot worse around Purley/Croydon.

Cars & buses seem to be passing through London Rd & Stanstead Rd in FH fine.

Paths off & around Vancouver seem almost slushy.

From what I have just seen out walking I wouldn't venture near Canonbie or Netherby in a car. I didn't see the steepest hill side of Canonbie, the Netherby Road side looked bad enough to me. Even a couple of hours ago cars were struggling big time on Netherby.

Forest Hill Road towards the junction with Honor Oak Road was causing problems for cars and buses even at 3.30 as it seemed to have a thin layer of compacted snow. The fact that traffic was stop start wasn't helping. In these circumstances some of the parking of people picking up their little darlings from the school was simply unbelievable (and it beggars belief at the best of times!!).

Conditions seemed as bad as I have seen them in 25 years here. If there is a hard frost the fun will really start. Saw no real sign of grit or gritters.

If any of you use, or know anyone who does, the rat run via Waldenshaw Road onto St Davids road then dont. You will crash.

The walk from the Hob down the slope and across Davids Road is always dreadful because of the steep cambers and yet it never seems to get gritted.

I wouldn't drive out of there either.

Expect severe delays on the ELL if you're coming home late from work/evening out. It's suspended between Sydenham and West Croydon.

And trains from East Croydon to London Bridge aren't stopping until they reach NXG due to a "broken down Overground train at Sydenham".

TfL reporting severe delays on the ELL due to adverse weather conditions. First test of the new trains in snow - maybe it's the wrong sort of snow!
