If they were revolting students hopefully when identified they will be banned from college and made to pay for any damage and Police costs.

I'm sure that if there is evidence against these or other protestors, that the police will bring charges against them. But there is not yet a law against a peaceful protest, which is what the majority of people were doing there.

Michael
If they were protesting against Student fees , what the hell has that got to do with LBC.

If council cuts then they should contact their Councillor to persue thr matter peacefully.
LBC have to make cuts , the money is just not there. Every demonstation costs Police time and money and therefore makes deficit larger.

Brian,
Don't you just hate living in a democratic society.

You really can't have it both ways, where the state pays for the policing of the Pope's visit but is not prepared to tolerate protestors or people wishing to attend council meetings because of the cost of policing.

As Winston Spencer said Democracy is a very bad form of government but all the others are so much worse.

Peaceful protest is fine. Looked to me that more than two people illegally entered the Council last night.
The Police deployed last night could have been better employed catching spate of burglers reported on this site

The Territorial Support Group of the Metropolitan Police would not have been dealing with burgularies, I assume they would have been sitting around all evening with nothing to do, waiting for things to kick-off somewhere.

But I agree that it would be lovely to see as many police on the streets of London as turn up to protests in central London. It sometimes surprises me that with so many police we have such a poor clear up rate of the reported crime in this country.
