I did the Whitechapel interchange on the way home last night (left form Mansion House at around 7:15) - don't think it's quicker but only had a 5 minute wait at Whitechapel and it was a significantly more pleasant journey than the usual squish at London Bridge.

Nevermodern - getting on a bus at London Bridge at the moment is an absolute pain - takes ages to get out of the station. You would have been able to walk to Moorgate in the 20 minutes you were stuck seething on the bus!

Finding the new train service absolute pleasure. If you work in Canary Wharf like me its a perfect. 17 minutes from Forest Hill to Canada Water, always get a seat and to my surprise - no problems getting on the Jubilee from there.

Im not missing London Bridge in the slightest!

I didn't think the interchange between the Jubilee and southbound ELL was that great, or not as great as these threads suggest. But maybe I took a wrong turning?

Provided you follow the signs to the Southbound ELL from the Jubilee platform there's a flight of stairs that take you directly to the platform. Takes about 1 minute.

we are visiting the building site that is my house tonight and we will be using the ELL to get back to where are are staying (st johns wood) so v exciting about finally getting to use the new line!

well I have to say I'm really impressed with the ELL - it took just over 20min to get to Green Park last night, amazing,

I work in blackfrairs and used to walk from London bridge but I will defo be taking the ELL to Canada water then will walk from Southwalk station.

Only question is how much more per week would this route be over the daily return to london bridge?

This could be wrong, and I'd be pleased for correction, but a 7 day season to London Bridge (non underground) is £19.50 - and 10 peak oyster journeys on ELL/LUL is £2.70x10, £27.00.

Just to say that I took the Overground to the Geffrye Museum yesterday and it was so quick! I think I got to Hoxton in 17 minutes if I'm not mistaken. I used to study nearby and remember getting stuck for ages on the 149 bus out of London Bridge - often the journey from Forest Hill would take over an hour.

Hoxton station also takes you to the nearby Troy Cafe on Kingsland road, which I highly recommend.

The 0912 to London Bridge was quiet today, although it's been increased to 8 carriages from when it was the 0914.

So I decided instead to travel on the 0917 to Dalston, got a seat, although busier by the time it got to Brockley, but nowhere as bad as Southern train last week.

Canada Water interchange is a joy and got to Leicester Square at 0950.

You've got to factor in though that it's a Bank Holiday weekend hence why it's quieter than usual! The 8.14 from HOP was quiet too.

On the 0857 yesterday, and I had a four-set with table to myself when I got on at FH. Still had it to myself when I got off at LB. Weird.

Although it's a bank holiday weekend, on my journey up this morning, there were more people getting on the ELL this morning than were left waiting for the 0920 to London Bridge along the line.

I have an annual paper type season ticket to London Terminals ie London Bridge.

Does anyone know whether that season ticket can be transferred to an Oyster Card ?

I find that the paper ticket gets damaged after a few months.

The 0917 ELL was busier than last week as the 0920 to LB was delayed by 7 minutes.

However got the 1730 from Canada Water to FH and despite being much busier than last week, I still managed to find a seat and by NXG had a row of seats to myself!

I believe that Oyster cards can only hold Travelcards / PAYG and not point to point season tickets, so the answer to your question is no.

Pity - this means that if you enter the station intending to use LB but then change your mind (perhaps because the London Bridge trains is delayed) and want to use the Overground you have to go back upstairs to use your oystercard.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to have an oyster machine on the Platform?

Well I've been working near London Bridge and I've noticed the direct trains are as packed as they've ever been, plus coming home in the evening is also bad with the reduced peak time services.

The 8.30am yesterday was very crowded, which suggests people still need a direct LB service and choose it over the ELL. I don't really want to go via Canada Water to Southwark - because my workplace is nearer LB and no doubt it will cost more that way. It definitely seems to be taking me longer to get home in the rush hour now.

I did my first commute to West London yesterday using the ELL and Jubilee instead of Southern and managed to shave 10 minutes off the journey.

Clearly the long walk between the NR and Tube stations is what increases the time.

Completely different commute for me than for seeformiles to London Bridge on Southern. Having followed Michael's advice I take the 7:14 which has a lot of seats instead of the 7:23 and I have managed to get on the 18:51 and get a seat more often in the last couple of weeks than I have ever been even able to get on in the last 5 years. I used to have to take the 19:05 as the 18:51 used to be rammed sometimes even 7/8 minutes before departure. Of course I wonder how much the half term has had an impact so I am still giving it a few weeks to see what happens overwise I will be reverting to the 19:06. The train I am missing though is the 19:45, as once a week I have physio at London Bridge Hospital which finishes at 19:30. Now I have to wait till 19:54 for the next train. Taking the overground instead would not take me home any quicker (19min) than waiting till the 19:54 which still takes 11min to HOP. So that's so far the only downside beside having to leave the house 10min earlier in the morning (but then being assured[/quote] a seat everytime).
