I actually think that hitting each station would be more effective. Also we wouldn't have to be concerened about legalities as you flyer people as they are walking into the station, not on the platform itself.
I think if you flyer these people as they are getting onto their already packed morning trains, we'd get a response fast.

I do agree - it's just the logistics involved.
Looking at the timetables for the Caterham train, I do think the direct CHX evening service is still the most efficient way to get home all along this line, so all the stations should be flyered to get maximum support.
If it could start to CHX an hour or so earlier, into the bargain - that would be perfect!

We are working across the line to organise flyers for the stations, but not this week. However, the Meet the Manager session is too good a chance to miss. I have the email addresses of over 1,200 people who have already signed the petition. If a good number of these people stop for 10-15 minutes we will be able to demonstrate to Southern Railway a taste of the strength of feeling.
Please stop by this Thursday (15th October) from 7:30am - 9:30am on the concourse at London Bridge, and ask some of the questions mentioned here.
The South London Press will also be including an article before the Meet the Manager session, which may help to attract some more people, they will also be sending along a photographer for an article in next week's paper. John Russell has arranged for Caroline Pidgeon to be present (GLA Assembly Member and chair of the transport committee), and we will be inviting other politicians.
This week I need to focus on Meet the Managers, Lewisham Transport Marketplace for Local Assemblies, and the FH Society AGM. Next week we will try to start the flyering of all local stations and will be asking for volunteers again.

I really think we need to start undertaking more direct actions very shortly so well done and thanks for all your time and effort on getting things organised, Michael (and others).

I am sitting in the 19:37 and every one around me now knows and checking the Forest Hill Society website to find the petition on their phone. Technology at its best! Got the people in the carriage talking a lot!

Latest reply from Southern, which just says the same as they did in their last letter to me. They avoid the issue - that I pointed out to them - that Southeastern are not going to be running any extra trains at all.
Thank you for your letter of September 24 from which I understand that you still have concerns regarding the removal of Southern services to London Charing Cross station.
Southern's view of how the train service on this route should be developed is on record, on the South London RUS (Route Utilisation Strategy) consultation web site:
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20do...uthern.pdf
Our response was considered with all others to inform the specification the Department for Transport requires us to operate. This specification had to fit around their specification for the Southeastern franchise that resulted in no pathways being available to operate to and from Charing Cross.
I should point out though that part of our response for when the Thameslink Programme is completed, and when work at London Bridge is completed has resulted in four trains per hour direct to and from Thameslink stations; however, this will not until 2016 when the infrastructure will be in place.
I hope this clarifies things further for you, but would be happy to advise further if necessary.
Am still chasing DfT for a response, since they seem to be at the heart of all this.

You're right, Foresters. My MP is Joan Ruddock, who I have written to asking for her to approach the DfT, but have had no response from her so far.
Anyone want to volunteer to ask Mr Dowd to approach DfT as well?

There will be coverage in London's newest free paper either today or tomorrow.
Please join us at London Bridge station tomorrow morning - 0730-0930. Close to the escalators to the underground from the exits for platforms 8-16.
And if you are brave, speak to people on the train this evening and tomorrow morning, and us them to join us.

Having been forced to use the trains again due to the selfishness of a drunk driver I am slightly aggitated at the prospect of being crammed on an evening train on my way home.
I will be the very vocal person their tomorrow wearing a suit with one brogue and one white plimsole.

I caught the 1824 yesterday and it was horrible. Completely rammed to the hilt.
Luckily tomorrow I am exiting at platforms 8-16 so will be able to speak to the Managers.

Mentioned it in my carriage on the 23:07 from Charing Cross last night. Hopefully you will get a few more signatures.

I tried to get on the 1820 (at 1815) but couldn't so whizzed over to the 1824. This also became completely rammed within minutes.
It's incredible to think that if these two trains 4 minutes apart are both rammed what it will be like if they are 15 minutes apart...
