Isn't the bendiness or otherwise of the track more important than the distance in determining whether you can see one station from another?

I straddle both FH and Syd so here's my tuppence!

They have proposed the Bakerloo line is extended via New Cross Gate, Lewisham, Ladwell, Catford and Lower Sydenham (onto Hayes). I reckon this would be great news for the area, as although Forest Hill and Upper Syd won't directly benefit, it should be easy enough for us to get to Catford or Lower Syd to take advantage. Also, an exchange at NCG would be very welcome.

But, this is all proposals so no idea of timeframes etc. Still, a bit of good news I feel.

An interchange at New Cross Gate is long overdue.

I've never understood why New Cross has 2 stations next to each other, very annoying when standing at Canada Water and a New Cross train is the next one due.

Anyone know why? A huge waste in my opinion, it only takes 2 minutes to walk between the two

Annoys the hell out of me as well. Even more annoying that when the New Cross train pulls up at Canada water - no one gets on it, leaving the West Croydon train 5 minutes later absolutely swamped!

The New Cross only service should be terminated ASAP.

New Cross is interchange for Lewisham and stations to Hayes.

Yes, some of us might be dead by the time the Bakerloo Line arrives!

And only one of the options would bring it into SE23 (the Peckham Rye / Honor Oak / Catford Bridge option); the other route options are New Cross / Lewisham / Ladywell or Herne Hill / Crystal Palace / Beckenham, neither of which would be much use for SE23 residents.

And anyway, most Bakerloo Line destinations can be reached as quickly on the Overground and Jubilee line; I find that the trip to Paddington is faster now with the slick interchanges at Canada Water and Baker Street - about 40 minutes. Travelling to Paddington on Crossrail via Whitechapel is expected to take more than 35 minutes, and I am sure a Bakerloo Line extension would take a similar time for the 15 stops from Honor Oak.

Slick interchange at Canada Water? Yeah I love queueing with the thousand and one other people to get down that single escalator!!!!

Yes, though still much better than London Bridge and the quarter-mile walk from platform 16 to the Jubilee Line platforms.

And anyway, I stopped queuing for that one escalator long ago: if you travel on the front of the Overground train (which is always quieter) and then, at Canada Water, go up the escalator to the ticket hall it's only a short walk to the down escalators to the Jubilee Line platform.

I don't think we will get the Bakerloo extension into Forest Hill as we have the Overground.

As I live between Forest Hill and Catford any improvement to the Catford Bridge line would be beneficial.

se23northerner - damn, I thought I was the only one who sneaks out that way. The added bonus is that, once you get down to the Jubilee Line, you can walk straight down to the end of the platform, where the last carriage usually has some seats up for grabs.
