Hi All,
Any suggestions on making the journey from Forest Hill (I live near Perry Rise shops) to Beckenham Junction? I made the journey once before by getting the 181 from Perry Hill to Bromley road then walking, it took ages and surely can't be the best way!? Am I better walking to lower sydenham rail? catford rail? Bus from the Sainsbury supercentre? Please help?
thanks
Mrs R

Other alternatives I can think of.
75 to Catford, then 54 to Beckenham Junction. (Most straight forward)
356 to Penge then 227 to Beckenham War Memorial.
Train from Lower Sydenham to Clock House then 227 to BWM.

Thanks Guys, for the quick responses.
I'm going on Thursday so will prob try one route there and another on the return leg to suss out what suits me best.
Nice selection RBM, however the 356 drives me insane. You turn up and never know if it's been early and you've missed it or if it's late or what. I have spent too long waiting for that wee bus so it's looking doubtful I'll opt for that route.
thanks again

Another train route I've thought of, Forest Hill or Sydenham to Crystal Palace (London Overground & Southern) then Crystal Palace to Beckenham Junction. (Southern)

Train/bus/overground to Crystal Palace, then a train (approx 5mins) to Beckenham Junction.

If you live by the Old Fire Station then convinced the 75 is your best bet. I did this journey many times and tried all options when I lived near there.
If you want to stick to Buses then just change at Penge where I said. Then 227.
But you said you wanetd to go to Beck Junc so would recommend getting of 75 at Penge East and boarding train.

I agree with Bryan 75 bus from Perry vale to Penge East Rail thence 2 stops to Beckham Junction.Quickest by far time, timetable permitting.

The 352 service runs at 20 minute intervals to North Bromley from Savacentre. It is an 8 to 12 minute run to the bus stop at Bouverie Lodge at the end of Blakeney Road. This is just four minutes walk round the corner from Beckenham Junction.
You only have to decide whether to walk to the Savacentre or catch a 356 bus to get there. When your timings are right this is probably fastest.

Thanks all,
I was at the Savacentre earlier and checked out the bus stops as jgdoherty says the 352 goes to Beckenham v near the junction and is looking like the most direct route for me. I noted the times (3 per hr). Thanks for your suggestion jgdoherty, I will prob not wait for the 356 and I'm sure it will pass by me as I walk up Perry Rise.
Brian you have made a very strong argument (supported by davhel) for the 75 & Penge route and it would save me the walk up Perry Rise so I might try that for one leg of the journey.
thanks again all! Much appreciated. I will let you know how I get on.
cheers
Mrs R
