The Dartmouth Arms' power came back on about half an hour ago, apparently, so fingers crossed for the rest of us.

Power off again in the same location last night, roughly 2130-0150.

People should start writing to Jim Dowd about this. Its not much fun having no power in these temperatures and even less when you can't rely on a continuous service. Jim intervened very successfully last year in our case after which we received kid glove treatment from EDF.
I suspect that as in our case the circuits are breaking down as they can't cope with the level of power required, probably exacerbated as people turn on electric heaters, etc so it may be that major works are required, as in the cases of Honor Oak Road and Westwood Park last year.

I can also recommeng Lawrence at the South London Press for a bit of help in publicising this. Only when EDF are faced with media and MP pressure will they prioritise the work.

I may have the numbers and contact details for EDF as they allocate a customer care officer after a while for persistent power cuts so I will look these out. Also its worthwhile looking out for elderly people who may be at risk because of these outtages.

Latest news is that some exposed cabling from the emergency work done this time last night has been shorted by the rain, and is now banging and flashing like billy-o. The fire brigade are in attendance. And my electricity supply is flickering again. Bloody shambles.

This is Baboonery, for se23.com, Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill.

Did anyone else experience a power cut last night?

There must have been one as my clock/radio was flashing this morning, but it was still telling the right time, so I can only assume it was only a momentary power cut.

Mine wasn't telling the right time and was flashing 5am at 8am so I'm guessing it went off at about 3? I was late for work! Mad

Yes it was 3am. I was rudely awoken by my burglar alarm detecting the power loss, and I could hear that several of my neighbours had the same problem.

Ah, that will explain why the alarm didnt go off. Odd though as the radio reset itself.

I was ferreting around in the fridge at 3:07am for a Caffeine Free Diet Coke to go with my late night cigarette when all power evaporated for about 1 second.

When I was sitting outside to have my smoke, every alarm in the vicinity was shrieking. Then a bevy of police cars arrived around Dartmouth Road-ish way, judging by the sound of their sirens, and gradually over the next 10 minutes, or so, most burglar alarms were turned off.

Round Dartmouth Road, you say? I didn't hear a thing. And I was woken up by the rain at about 6. My alarm clock was fine, though it only resets if it's been off for more than about ten minutes. Will have to check my Sky box when I get home - will be the only way to tell, I think.

Our power must have gone off too (around Taymount Rise) as the alarm was flashing, 4.40 something.

Does anyone know what caused it? Was there a storm or anything?

Seems to be a power cut this afternoon at the top end of Honor Oak Road/Devonshire Road. Not sure how localised it is.

I phoned EDF Energy Networks (LPN) plc 0800 0280247 - they very helpful. Apparently started 1.20 pm and they are working on it. They haven't got an estimated "power on" time yet.

I can't remember the dates exactly now ... week before last, I think, Tuesday and Wednesday? We had power cuts on Ballina Street between around 8 and midnight ... two nights running. It was frustrating and slightly worrying, but thankfully not too long, and candles and a gas hob were enough to keep us sane in our house. Had it gone on much longer I might have had problems as I'm on chemotherapy and getting cold is very bad for me right now, but the house stayed warm enough.

Appliance clocks suggest Cranston Road was off at some point in the last few days too.
