OK, peeps. I'm putting it out there. (I know it's November, but sometimes these things happen at the beginning of December, and us working Mums need to plan ahead)
Anyway - any news of an appearance of Father Christmas in the SE23 area this year?

I heard that he isn't coming to Forest Hill as he has too much luggage to carry on 176 and he refuses to fold up his reindeer (ho ho ho).
for a more helpful answer I think Horniman on 12th December http://www.foresthillsociety.com/p/calendar.html

Ah! happy replies I like it.
I was waiting for a barrage of '...in my day if anyone even mentioned Christmas before midnight mass on the 25th they were dragged through the streets of Sydenham covered in tinsel and holly berries...but today's kids start opening their presents two weeks after school breaks for the summer, it's just not the same'

I actually know Faher Christmas and where he drinks - incognito, of course. He tells me he will be wearing his red costume from Monday 6 December.

Do not wish to put a dampner on your enthusiasm but surely children only start opening presents months early if they are allowed to do so.
Surely it is not being an old fogey to suggest presents are for Christmas Day , sfter church , and of course giving much better than receiving.

Brian - it took you over 5 hours to respond to this thread in your inimitable style. Is everything alright?

Thanks for your consideration . Not great but keep smiling .
I do not sit in front of computer all the day.
I thought my reply was very moderate and reasnoble and can not see how anyone would object to it. But of course anything is possible.
