This beautiful long hedgerow is covered in signs reading 'major tree works' and parking is suspended along the road this morning. I imagine that it's all going to be removed and replaced with nasty fencing as they've done on Sunderland Road. Why isn't this activity illegal? This is a beautiful hedgerow and a feature of Gaynesford Road. Grim.

Perhaps it is time for residents on Gaynesford Road to apply to be a conservation area. This would protect the houses and trees/hedges in the area.

But there has to be a reasonable chance that this hedge will be trimmed rather than removed completely.

I certainly hope it's just receiving a trim. The fencing on the Sunderland Road side just looks terrible.

Lewisham planning say that no application is necessary for work to hedges. A quarter of the hedge has gone already. Oh well.

A good trim would be a nice idea. I love a good strong hedge, but ones that make the pavement un-usable are a pain. Like the one on Church Vale.

It needed a very good trim, but it's gone now.

Doh thats a shame. Guess it might be the people that live there just wanting more of a view and more light maybe.

Now just a few more bits of trimming needing in FH to make footpaths passable. Can just be a bit of a pain at times. Especially the spikey one at the end of Church Vale. You have to walk in the road to get past it, which is dangerous with the amount of traffic there these days.

I live in Gaynesford at the Church Rise end. I assume you a referring to the house at the end which has its entrance in Sunderland Road. A person living their told me it is owned by a housing association.

Do you travel through Aylward Road if so have you noticed the bottom of the trees grow outwards and can force you to walk in the road.
