Agreed with henryb2 about the embankment.

We received a letter from Network Rail in October 2010 which said that the area would be planted with a "grass and wild-flower seed mix". As I think that the trees are a sad loss I followed this up with a call to their Community Relations. I was assured that, in addition to this planting, there were no plans to prevent a return of wild species including trees to the embankment.

If this really is, as it indeed appears to be, a single species of grass then there seems to have been a change of plan on both counts.

Am not so anti the fence though. It would strike me that the default alternative is the standard chain link variety - it is at least better than that.
