Language Lounge is a local language swap group that's been running since 2008.

We offer swaps and very low cost classes and meet weekly on Monday (Beginner/Intermediate French and Brazilian Portuguese) and Thursday evenings (English, Italian, Advanced French at the moment - we have also offered Spanish and Russian and there are a few people trying to get a regular German conversation group going).

Venue is The Magnolia (aka The Mag) just over the border in SE22 on Lordship Lane (junction of Lordship Lane and Pellatt Road nr the Police Station).

See full listing on the East Dulwich Forum What's On Section.

If you would like to learn or practise one of our languages and can help others learn your native language in exchange please take a look or come along to the Mag.

Fran (Organiser)

Someone I know would like to come along to the Italian beginners group on Thursday, this week or the next.

What should he do?

Hello

Is your friend a complete beginner, a near beginner or just rusty?

If he's learned a little in the past he will be fine to come along at 6.30 tomorrow, he'll be fine if he has a little bit of vocabulary and knows present tense of common verbs.

If he's a total beginner, ie needs to start with the alphabet and pronunciaton, he'll be better to come next week Thurs 9th - I will post times of all the sessions at the weekend.

Just turn up at the Magnolia, we meet in the upstairs room for Italian

Fran

He's a total beginner, I forgot to say. I'll tell him to come along next week. I can then give him a bit of help in between the sessions.

Hi Novels

Apologies for the late notice but we have had to cancel Italian beginners tonight - three of the new group can't make it and we really need to start them off all together. We will be starting next Thursday. Please send me a private message with your friend's or your email and phone so we can contact you directly - I send out a text if we ever have last minute info and your friend is the only person not on that list. We need to have a name for him too!

Thanks a lot

Fran

Language Lounge is taking an Easter break but we'll be back on Monday 16th April. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining one of our groups for English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian or Mandarin Chinese. We are a voluntary group that offers low cost local language learning and practice by either sharing the cost of a teacher or by swapping languages. We guarantee practice or lessons with a native speaker.

We have been running since 2008 and offer a safe and friendly atmosphere. We have use of a quiet room in a venue on Lordship Lane.

We're focused on learning and improvement. Many of our members need to improve their languages for work.

We do organise some socials though too, we sometimes see foreign language films, visit exhibitions etc.
