Not sure how the last event went (any write ups out there from anyone who went?) but we are fast approaching an event with a difference so thought I'd start the haggis rolling.

23rd January is close-enough to Burns night for it to be an excuse to celebrate it. So, I've helped to arrange (being an 'interested party') with Jamie at The Honor Oak to host the 23 Club there this month.

There will NOT be too much overt kiltedness (unless I feel like it on the night), but Jamie is offering a free starter plate of Haggis, Neeps N' Tatties (only starter size so you can try it if you feel like it) for anyone who calls (020 8690 8606) and books in the name of the 23 Club. The rest of the meal is up to you.

We will have a special guest on the night to Address the Haggis (no, it does not have an SE23 Postcode - it is a poem by Robert Burns. Translations will be offered for those hard of Scottishness). I don't want to ruin the surprise, but basically since there isn't one, I should tell you it will be my father.

This looks like being a well attended event if my initial chats with people are anything to go by, so do get in there quick so we can make arrangements for a suitably sized table.

There is an outside chance of a malt whisky tasting - if you are interested, but this is not a requirement, don't worry

Remember that the 23 Club is a social club with a difference, it aims to bring local residents together, particularly members of the Forest Hill Society (you can always join on the night), but also supports our many and varied local hostelries that badly need our support this year.
