Hey,

I'm quite new to SE23 & don't know many people (yet!)

Is there anything in the area for active 'adults' be it group power walking in the evenings (*pub crawl*) or an explorers club for kayaking road trips etc? If there's nothing in place it would be great to get some people together to start something up...

Any info from outdoorsey types is most welcome!

Thanks in advance Smile

R

Hi Rumbler - not in SE23 but I was previously a member of a kayaking group out near Croydon. Joined one of their beginners courses before going on a couple of river trips. I'd recommend it (would probably still be a member if it wasn't for my pesky kids arriving) but probably only works if you can drive. I can dig out the details if you want?

if you like running I believe there is the Forest Hill Harriers - otherwise look at the newshopper website for activities. I think there are some martial arts classes around

unless you want to join the TA - they are based in Bromley Road next to the Police Station or I think there is a unit in Camberwell, check out the MOD website for units if you are interested. Or what about cadets/scouts/guides - I think they are short of adult leaders

if you want tennis there is a group at Catford Wanderers near Bellingham Station - a girl at work belongs and they apparently are very social minded

How about localish lakes for windsurfing/kayaking or maybe a local climbing wall?

Hi Rumbler
There's a climbing wall currently being built at Crystal Palace - due to be finished July 2010.

Crystal Palace also has a fun runners club...

And there's a triathlon club there, too...

Hope that helps!
