So with the WC just around the corner, which one is your favourite
As im knocking on a bit and seen quite a few, I will have to go for 1970, when for my money, England had their best team they ever had
1990 would be a close runner up with Nausan Dorma etc
So what about WC 2010 for England, could we go all the way and lay the ghost of 1966, would love to say yes, yet get that hagging doubt that we will blow out again, seen it so many times before
I have a strange hunch that the Argies may well win it

Hi Ex FH Pat,
Australia will win this year. And England as runner's up. It is the natural order of these things.
Aussies dominate ALL world sports and this is just another trophy for us to take home and put on the nation's mantelpiece.
Considering that we Aussies have been beating China at the World Ping Pong Cup in recent years, the 2010 FIFA World Cup is an inevitability for us to bring the glory home to the Great Southern Land.
I'm sure England will put in a good show. But the Australian Secret Service (ASS) have taken out Beckham and all Australian's overseas have been issued orders from the Australian Foreign Office to stamp on Wayne Rooney's right foot in the area of the fourth metatarsal if the opportunity arises. I received my official instructions in the post recently. As you can see, we are busy preparing.
Good luck!

Well good luck Aussie - yet somehow I cant see the Aussies winning the World Cup, it will be one of the big boys AGAIN, it always is
Then again there is only one Country in the World that has been champions of the World in football/cricket/rugby and that country my friend is England, then again, we are normally c**p at most, we just invent the games
However we are good at Darts

1990 for those Oscar moments and 1998 for sheer drama and disallowed Sol Cambell header.
The Argies? - very reminiscent of the Falklands War - now which world cup was that.

I love it Michael, because you can turn it off and return to serenity! The racket drives me (and millions of others) nuts

Not true at all, just look at the current one!
Italy, France and England were all sent packing, while teams like Ghana and Uruguay are in the quarters!
The Euro is important, but the World Cup remains the greatest event in SPORT (not just soccer).
