Please be careful out there folks. Wife was snapped picking me up from the parking area outside the Weatherspoons the other day. CCTV was used to capture her crime and a £120 fine was in the post two days later.

So if you thought CCTV was there to help with our safety you would be wrong, they are there to add to TFL coffers.

I assume you're going to be challenging the fine?

I didn't think you were allowed to stop on double red lines between 7am and 7pm.

Same thoughts as Michael, its a red route so no stopping between 7-7. There is a bay there though, so if she was in that, challenge it. (if the bay was in operation)

Tis a PITA I agree at times.

Sometimes, Red Routes have marked boxes, also in red dasjed lines, with signs to say when you can park in them. There are some opposite ToppsTiles on Sunderland Road. On Camberwell New Road you're allowed to park for a short time in the marked boxes between 10-16:00. Worth checking anyway.

I am afraid they have us banged to rights. When you park in the bay and crane your neck up far enough you can see the sign which has parking but for a limited time. The good lady wife did phone TFL and suggest it was a little unfair as she had parked, let me into the car and we were away and we were not blocking the road. The individual at TFL felt she had a strong case and urged her to appeal which she has. The fine (which is £120 reduced to £60 if paid immediately) will be held at £60 until the matter is resolved.

We shall see.

P.S. Blooming sharp eyed of the CCTV opperator to spot us in rush hour given we were away and gone in 15 seconds or so.Blink

I'm pretty sure the camera is just fixed at that point. It then just reads your numberplate, finds who it belongs to on the database and issues an automatic fine. At least that's how I though it worked.

It was taken from the tall camera outside WH Smith. Funny thing is that the car is registered in my name but the fine came to the wifeOhmy

Seems like a good time to remind people about the camera at the junction of Brockley Rise and the A205 Stanstead Road. Cut early into the bus lane to turn left into Brockley Rise and you are quite likely to get a fine.

The other half got a letter from TFL today saying that although she had stopped where she had against the posted signage they were never the less going to cancel her fine.

NiceThumbsup Good on TFL.

Re. Brockley Rise/A205 - indeed! The only fine I got in the last couple of years was at that very spot. Must be a nice little earner that camera, there is always a long queue at the traffic lights and I'm sure lots of people are tempted to cut into the the bus lane a bit early, as the left turn lane is nearly always empty and everyone queues to go straight on.Sneaky
