Both Roz and Lottie are half right, but if you combine their views together you get the perfect answer...
RT @HornimanMuseum: Plant sale in the Gardens on Saturday 11am - 3pm - bargains galore!

Small very packed stalls, in the middle of a largely empty space...
A lot promised on the banner... hardly anything there....
Or, perhaps, not very well organised.
I would've wanted to linger a bit more, but no cakes, no drinks...
Still... A relly nice crowd, and well done for keeping up the tradition.
Has the Horniman Museum turned its shoulders to this year's event?
What a disappointment.

Yes agree very dissapointing this year. No fruit bushes to be seen as promised and I couldn't find the tea and cakes either.

I hope this event doesn't attract the same numbers that came for the Jerk Chicken.... blah blah blah ... I remember when books were sold in shops and people grew their own plants ... next thing they'll be selling skunk to the kiddies ... how will they stop people parking their horse and cart in my drive and passing horses from manuring my roses?
Other rants are available on request see http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php...95#pid4695

Michael, I assume you are joking - the reference to the sale of an illegal drug is IMHO inappropriate. The problems caused by too many people attending events at the Horniman have been well documented, suffice to say I miss the days when horse manure was freely available and you could the cross the road without fear of a speeding horse. With regards to the Book and plant sale, it hasnt been advertised in Gardener's World or the Libraries of South London, so I'm sure the park will not be over run by tens of thousands of non Kindle reading bookworms and green fingered gardeners.

Gingernuts,
Of course I'm joking. I don't think you should need to ask. But I'm surprised that you haven't complained about other "inappropriate postings".
I also agree that the Horniman are able to manage the number coming to all events, especially after seeing the result the one time they got it very wrong. They have said it won't happen again and that is good enough for me.

They say it wont happen again but have offered nothing practical to demonstrate how. I'd like to see some evidence of how they plan to manage the numbers before feeling so confident that numbers can be controlled for the larger events. Personally I have no issue with alcohol, the occaisonal late night even for a up to 10,000. But to increase this to 15,000 (because actually they cannot control the numbers and could breach the 10,000 mark!) EVERY night is a bit steep.
