I had dinner last night in Tandoori Nights, almost next door to the Cheese Block, in London Road. The food and service were excellent.
The best Indian restaurant in the area, since Cafe Lah changed ownership and quality went downhill.

I've not been to this one- I only know the Tandoori Nights in East Dulwich - is it part of the same group? Havent tried the other one since it was Kafe La but will take note of your comments.

I had a lovely meal at Cinnamon this evening (aka Kafe La).
Tandoori Nights and the Cheese Block still seem to be in Lordship Lane, once they move to London Road I look forward to visiting them

I'm a little confused- does Junegapi mean Lordship Lane East Dulwich or London Road Forest Hill?

I find most Indian restaurants formulaic. Very rich sauce, with the basic ingredients out of a sack. We are lucky to have a couple that are a little special - the Dewanian and Barbur - but they charge for it! Best Indian food that I had was in Kanataka. Outside this there are some places off Brick Lane, Tooting and Bradford, that are more authentic. There are also good Keralan restaurants in Portland Place and Drummond Street.
Can readers tell me why one curry house is better than another?

Yes, for London Road read Lordship Lane. London Road leads in to Lordship Lane somewhere between the Harvester and Goose Grenn

It is Wikipedia, you could always write your own entry.

The only problem I have with Cinnamon (ex-Kafe La) is that it's so nice, me and my partner keep going there and our wallets are contracting while our waistlines expand.......
The food is a cut above most curry restaurants and the service is good and friendly.
I wouldn't really think of East Dulwich as being in this area.
